Yeah just shut down commercial passenger air traffic. That’s a great plan that won’t impact anyone else at all.

that's the point, the longer this shutdown goes on, the more people that are affected. i'd rather see a single day of madness then a prolonged problem.

I think we’ll be ok without TSA

But who will stop all of the terrorists streaming across our open southern border from going on a rampage on planes (because the Dems dug their heels in)?

i want to see the TSA strike and not show up for work nationwide. our air transportation system would come to a halt just like on 9/11. he who proudly owns the shutdown would also own all the inconveniences and problems caused by that and the shutdown would be ended.

And the TSA workers would be treated the way Reagan treated the Air Traffic Controllers. I can’t understand hoping for someone else to fall on a sword for my own satisfaction.

Are the TSA government employees or contractors? There was talk a few years back that the GOP was going to privatize the system.

BTW "blue flu" traditionally meant (illegal) job stoppages by police.

They need to do exactly what Riverside PD did in '86.

Go visit their sick "Aunt Cindy" in Las Vegas before a judge can order them back to work.

Don't forget that the US Coast Guard isn't getting paid during this shutdown either. That's what always made me laugh about Trump and the other Regressives claiming that this was about boarder security. How many kilos of drugs and "bad guys" does the USCG intercept each week? Just wait until they start getting the blue flu as well.

The Coast Guard is being paid as of last week.

*I think* TSA workers are considered essential and they are expected to work without pay during a shutdown
Someone correct me if I’m wrong

shutdowns should shut it all down. Those people arent going to work for 2 years for nothing. This whole thing is dumb af

I agree, I’d like to see retirees, the military and social services benefactors take the hit first. Would make gamesmanship much more painful.

Well that's a thing which must be changed. No one is forced to work without being paid. If a position is "essential" then don't shut down. That would end this nonsense forever.

Since we live in a dog eat dog society with everybody looking out for themselves and too indifferent to the fate of others, we need more and more people to be affected before anything changes in my opinion.

Not paying the soldiers has toppled more than a few govts in History, I'm sure. Bad idea.

I don't want this to fall on social service beneficiaries, either. They're some of the most vulnerable people in America. They have trouble making ends meet even with assistance. I mean, yeh, let's quit paying rent on Sec 8 housing in the middle of the winter. It'll make everything better. Oh, and freeze their SNAP cards, too. Happy New Year, you fucking moochers. Get a job. Bootstraps. Fuck you.

Trump needs his wall more than your kids need to eat.

ATC's had a no strike clause in their contract. They walked out, got canned.

Someone needs to call McConnell to the floor. Traitor he is, won't allow the bill up for a vote.

What did they name the bill, "Merrick Garland"?

Get it up for a vote again, traitor. Let democracy speak. Putin paying your bills again? It passed 100-0 less than a month ago. Bring it back, traitor. It's not a supreme court seat. Do your job so real Americans can do their job.

Yep. That's why everyone leaving should be the thing. Of course the TSA is a shitty low paying job. If the economy was half as good as Trump says it is then no one would take the current worker's place.

Good benefits and a pension after 20 years makes it worth while. Assuming they get either of those.

Correct. It's half assed decent pay with benefits & it's rock steady. Well, until Trump, of course. I worked as a mechanic for the local transit agency for a long time. Sailed right through the interest rate recession of the early 80's, the S&L crisis, the Tech bust & the great recession of 2008. It was more interesting than being a TSA screener, I'm sure, and it paid better, but they're like people who showed up at the factory to run a punch press for 30 years to feed their families. Do the job. Go home. Get paid & make something out of it. Middle income people can thrive on uninterrupted employment.

I'm sure the shit will hit the fan once people actually start missing paychecks. Then it won't just be TSA, either.

Right, the first paycheck will be missed on January 11th, next Friday. If this is not resolved by then expect a major backlash from the bureaucracy.

I doubt they would be very successful at replacing tens of thousands of TSA agents with 3.9% unemployment, especially considering they have to have a clean criminal history. I don't really see how going on strike when you aren't being paid is falling on your sword, more like refusing to work for free. If any company was doing this to their employees they would be screwed, likely forced into bankruptcy.

And shutting down commercial aviation would end this shit in a day.
