I find it absolutely shocking that this far into it he still doesn't seem to have taken time to even understand the basics of foreign and domestic policy. It's embarrassing.

Think of it as debate training,

It keeps you sharp and on your toes, especially when some reporter throws a curve ball at you.

I'm sure that diversion will be Trump's primary goal should he choose to debate. Otherwise, he has no coherent answers to many of the questions that will be asked. He'll try to make it about what he wants to talk about & I doubt he can do it. He'll be out of his depth because he'll need to sway a whole different kind of voter than he did in the Repub primaries.

The electorate kinda grades between people who vote with the head on their shoulders into those who vote with the head on their dicks. He already has the latter.

Yes, divert and play to his strengths: the Repub base and those that will vote Repub no matter who (as Trump has shown) is in the running for their side.

So long as he ignores any and all issues that will drive him into a corner that he can't flim flam his way out of, he'll stick with whatever it is that keeps his base cheering for him and whatever else he can use to keep the door open on that closet full of RNC contrived issues that the Repub Spin Machine have been incessantly branding Hillary with.

True to the Repub strategy of vociferously and persistently attacking their opponents when they have nothing to defend themselves with, it seems to me Trump will employ the same tactics to try to keep Hillary backpedaling on her heels.

I don't think so about the backpedaling. He'll try, but she's a fierce adversary he likely can't get to, can't knock off stride. Her emotional control is near absolute, something that can't be said for Donald.

He's a guy who can be baited by a tweet so she'll obviously bait him, see how badly she can get him to lose his cool. She'll break his chops 8 ways from Sunday to provoke it. When he does, she'll say "See- he can't take it. He doesn't have the character to be President". And she'll be right.

Trump has a point about not being able to compete with football. He'll likely loose viewership among his strongest demographic- white middle aged male knuckle draggers. Lots of 'em would rather watch football, I'm sure.

Really? He'd lose out in viewership to a Saints-Falcons game, the game that's on during the Mon. debate Trump's crying about?

Damn....I know the country loves the NFL, but a Saints-Falcons game? And I somewhat follow the Falcons, being I grew up in GA, but that game has almost zero interest for me. Can't imagine it being a stout counter to a presidential debate.

I'd still find it amusing if they denied Trump the real Foreign Policy briefing that has been suggested to withhold from him.

It has been a common thing for awhile, but was withheld from one candidate once and another skipped it as he thought he was not going to be elected anyway.

But Trump already knows the best best people anyways, and probably doesn't need to know any of that nation security mumbo jumbo

I don't underestimate Trump at all. He's easily the greatest & most astounding con artist of his generation.

Unless I'm badly mistaken most Americans see it the same way because that's really the way it is. Just because we have pigeons among us doesn't mean most of us are pigeons.

Unless you are underestimating the number of pigeons, which I think you are.

I simply think Donald Trump is a little confused.
With all those nice things said about him at the republican convention, and the huge balloon drop, I think Donald thinks he already has won and I mean won like November 8th won.
So if you already won, why debate?

Upon reflecting on how well Hillary controlled her emotions and the narrative of the last Senate Select Benghazi witch hunt she testified in, I agree.

What is even going on in this guy's mind? Why lie about something so obviously disproven? Why would you vote for a person this casual with lying to you to be responsible for a country?

The Hill - NFL denies it sent Trump a letter over debate schedule

Donald Trump, who has started to voice complaints about the presidential debate schedule, said the National Football league sent him a letter protesting the dates that overlapped with games. But the NFL Saturday said that's not true.

"While we'd obviously wish the Debate Commission could find another night, we did not send a letter to Mr Trump," a spokesman for the organization said.

...

In an excerpt of an ABC interview to air Sunday, Trump said he received the letter from the NFL.

"I'll tell you what I don't like. It's against two NFL games. I got a letter from the NFL saying, 'this is ridiculous,'" he said.

My expectation for a debate is that Trump will make shit up as he goes, Hillary will waste valuable time highlighting Trump's inaccuracies, and Trump will win the debate.

Trump apparently does, particularly among his strongest demographic-

Or he's just following the celebrity adage that all press is good press.

I think you're half right with the Trump part. It's how he operates. It's how all con men operate.

One of Clinton's strengths is staying on message & on point. Another is in-depth knowledge along with meticulous prep work. She doesn't need to correct Donald. The media will do that afterwards. She needs to just bury him under her message.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see her come out swinging, either. If she can get to the Donald he's finished. He'll go ballistic at the right challenge to his manhood.

I don't understand how people can support this piece of human excrement. He opens his mouth hole and lies about such trivial and disprovable things.

Maybe LegendKiller will chime in here. However I would expect a quick diversion to Hillary. For the hardcore trump supporters the reality distortion field is in full effect.

If only there existed the technology to record something to watch at a later date, some type of video recorder. Maybe there could be this giant series of tubes that contain copies of this mythical event to watch from things like computers or phones. There could even be a large group of people who watch the event themselves and report what happened.

The idea that two things could be broadcast at the same time and people could only choose to view one and never be able to see the other is absolutely ludicrous.

He lies about everything and not in the typical "politician lies" fashion. No one, no Democratic and no Republican leader has ever lied as much as he has. He lies so much that it's going to become the accepted standard for him that when he tells his next big whopper the media will just sigh and move on.

Why females get the short end of a lot of visceral reactions like when raising their voice the higher octaves cause men to react negatively (hence things like shrill, harpy, etc), the one advantage is that aggressive behaviour towards them causes the aggressor to be viewed as a bully. With Clinton, it happened to Lazio during her initial Senate run.

It's not going to matter to partisans on either side, but it will to others who will, even if it isn't the major factor in their vote, at least subconsciously allow it to influence them.

Don't ignore the demographics of Football.

"Presidential debate? Fuck that shit! There's a game on!"

Go ahead. Tell me that's not a Trump target audience.

True, but less people watching the debate can only help Trump. He's not exactly knowledgeable when it come to anything other than spray tans, bankruptcy, and saying how hot his daughter is.
