Just for reference. When do you think this would be an issue?

Or does it get brushed off till the 6s fixes the problem?

If you sell 10 million phones and a few thousand people have an issue - not an issue. This is not wide spread, and until it effects I dunno, even a 10th of 1% of iPhone owners it's not worth talking about. And the only reason it's being brought up and people are making a fuss about it is because it's Apple. The SG3 had screen cracking from being in the front pocket issue reports, probably as many as the iPhone 6+ bend thing. But as far as I remember, Samsung didn't catch any shit here did they?

This MIGHT turn into an issue, but at the moment it's simply a few random reports from people and that's all.

So 10,000 affected phones then?

The new iPhone is so yawn-inducing. Put it beside HTC designs and it is nearly identical. Tim Cook sucks. I can't say that enough. Tim Cook sucks.

Why didn't you return your 5? There was a whole episode of bendgate with the 5 also. Don't let this troll post sway you THAT easily....

This is seriously an issue.

My friend at work has a bent phone and claims he did nothing but have it in his pockets with it. He has no idea how it happened.

Regardless of your loyalty to a company, if you can bend a phone in your pocket without knowing - that isn't good.

And to top it off - He lost cellular connectivity this morning with the update and had to do a restore through iTunes to fix it.

Not a good start. I am sure you are right, its probably being blown out of proportion, but there are legitimate concerns at the moment.

Dude, are you trying too hard or what?

Anyone who TRIES to bend the phone is obviously trying too hard to damage the phone. Please let me know why this is an issue? Is dropping the phone and having the screen shatter for many other phones not an issue?

Its clear your bias is showing and you will do anything possible to cast Apple in a bad light.

I think it is obvious who is showing bias..

Truth! Just checked my Note 3. Still as straight as my sexual orientation. I can't imagine if this happens to me...

Female pants pockets are undersized on purpose because they rarely use them. It's guys that throw everything into their pants.

correct however lots of women carry their phone in their back pocket when not carrying around a purse, I know a lot of people who have broken phones by sitting on them

and I know a couple who had their phone fall out of their pocket and into the toilet when they were using the bathroom

I have a 6+ and I will not be returning it. Seems sturdy enough to me.

Are people actually asking for incredibly thin phones? I think most of us would prefer a slightly thicker phone with more battery capacity and more durability.

yes stupid people

phones are thin enough, id gladly take something a little thicker for a larger battery, because honestly once you get below 10mm thick its thin enough

Percentage of people with bent phones who bought it on contract, don't give a shit, and shoved it in their pocket without a case... 100%

Percentage of people with bent phones who paid full pop for an unlocked one, placed it in a case, think twice about where they shove their phone, and in general give their phone white glove treatment... 0%

This is a PEBKAC issue, as most issues are.

Thinness has very little to do with the bending. Obviously it's a factor, but overall design and material choice is what matters a lot more.

For reference, airplane skin is about 0.063" thick. It's how you support it that matters.

Apple's "premium" aluminum is pop can, tin foil aluminum. It's not been treated or strengthened. That it's taken this long for this to be an issue is amazing in and of itself.

Oh, and my Droid was metal, sure as hell did not bend. Of course, it was a slider so maybe that had something to do with it......

The Droid could take a lot of punishment. Motorola used to make some seriously durable phones. Only the original Razr was tougher, in my experience.

I hope this isn't a widespread issue. I got a 6 last Friday and have enjoyed it a lot but would hate to be worried about putting it in my pocket. If it is really widespread hopefully they'll do something to fix the issues. Thank god I got Applecare =/

The choice of U2 for the launch/ad campaign should have alerted you that Apple isn't targeting hipsters these days.

That maybe true ... the typical iPhone user is more likely to consume Metamucil and Ensure than your typical Android user!

By the way I'm hearing this whole affair referred to as Bendgazi elsewhere if you're looking for a catchy title for it.
