We used to get our news from newspapers where reporters by in large reported all sides of the story, pro and con. And even when we got an editorial opinion, it was labeled an opinion with the editorial writer being somewhat required to show why the pro's outweighed the con's.

And here we have the other half of the progressive agenda which Jo didn't have time to get into - there's too much free speech. Even Obama's new SCOTUS nominee once said the government needs to "redistribute" free speech.

This is the essential viewpoint of the pro-illegal immigration debate, that people have an innate right to come to America if they so desire, that borders are evil things that should be abolished. This woman is well-spoken; I'd guess she is on welfare while attending college, a not-uncommon thing (not available to men though.)

As to Savage, I agree with him totally that nations are defined by borders, language, and culture. I simply find him too personally repugnant to listen.

Some will take it as a good message to go out and be an entrepreneur, but we all know *many* more will take it as justification to slack off. Be comfortable as a bum through life.

Actually in this case I'm being totally serious. There are many, many progressives who argue that anyone who wishes should be free to come to the USA. Why do you think so many maps today show borders everywhere except between the USA and Mexico, where we have a "border region"? Why do you think hundreds of thousands of people violently protest whenever there is any measure aimed at curbing illegal immigration or repatriating illegals? I know you don't support illegal immigration, but many - probably most - of your progressive brethren do not believe the USA has the moral right to enforce a border, expel illegals, or prohibit new illegals from coming.
