IndyColtsFan, would you agree that as of today, now that the 2012 regular season is over, that RG3 gets the slight nod over Luck?

Absolutely I would. I think Luck will be the better QB long-term and I'd obviously still take him over RG3 in a draft. That's what Redskins fans don't get and accuse me of "hating" RG3. I don't "hate" RG3 at all. If I see a Redskins fan spouting BS, I will call him on it though and that's why I'm attacked.

I think Alfred Morris deserves OROY, however.

From a Colts fan.. okay I'm convinced.

Yeah, you've convinced me I'm wrong. It was all part of Bill Polian's and Jim Caldwell's master plan to lose 14 games and get fired just so the Colts could draft Luck. Their master plan worked! Luck was drafted and Bill (and Chris) Polian and Caldwell were all fired. Bill Polian is a TV analyst, Chris Polian went from GM to a scout in Atlanta, and Caldwell is now screwing up the Ravens' offense. BRILLIANT PLAN! It must also have been part of their plan for Caldwell and Chris Polian to infiltrate enemy teams to weaken them for future Colts dominance. You're a goddamn genius, Gump!

Do you people ever really think things through? We've been over this before. The Colts were bad but the only reason they won 2 games as opposed to 4 or 5 was because of Polian's ego and his insistence that they continue to play Curtis Painter rather than Orlovsky. Polian drafted Painter and was incensed when people were crying for him to be benched and was dedicated to proving people wrong. Which, of course, never happened.

Depends honestly on this offseasn.

Depends on how hard Luck can critique himself, and build his confidence from his first season and work ethic to get back in there next season.

I am sure he will, as he is a hard worker. But if he was to take the offseason easy, luck could be forgetton in half a decade or so.

I predict Luck will have a better season next year. I'm not sure the Colts will, but I think Luck will improve. In the last 4 games, they've tried hard to establish a run game and have had some decent results with Ballard and as a result, Luck has not had to force as many throws and has only thrown 1 legitimate INT. I think what we'll see is that Grigson will build the o-line and either get a back or see if Ballard can move into the upper echelon of backs with a better line.

The colts success will be dependant on how the management plays their cards this offseason in drafting and trading to build a team around luck that is on the same wavelength as him.

Luck may be better. Then again he may do worse, (sophomore slump). As it will take a few years of confidence building, working hard and not falling victim to critics to live up to his fullest potential. When he could be on the level that we now see rodgers/brady/brees/Peyton at.

It's a lot easier, and takes less QB talent to make a throw to a busted up play when he scrambles outside the pocket. Don't have to be near as accurate, receivers are more open.

That's why he's not as good a Luck as a QB or passer.

He's a run first QB, Luck is a supremely skilled passing QB and will go down as one of the greats.

Is anybody seriously trying to make the arugment that RG3 is a better passer than Luck? REALLY?

Well based on FACTS, RG3 is the better passer and the better qb right now.

Russell Wilson's career will be worthless in the next two seasons. He will not stand the test of time.

Funny I have the exact opposite intuition about Wilson than you do. I feel like Wilson is going to stick around for a long time and I see him as a superbowl winning QB. He's got the leadership and on-field ability to get it done.

I have a bad intuition about RG3. I feel like he's going to run into a wall or have a major injury. I hope I'm wrong because I love watching him play.

LOLOLOLOL. Seriously, just stop. Luck is regarded as the greatest player entering the draft since Manning and possibly Elway. Luck will have the better career and when he does (and if I'm still around AT), I will have fun. Just like I was right about Kolb and just like I was right about Vick, to name 2 recent examples.

Secondly, you still have not explained why RG3's passing was not affected last week (whereas his running clearly was) while magically the reverse happened this week. The only thing you said was "maybe he got a cortisone shot." "Maybe?"

Note the poll results. It gives me more faith in AT's football knowledge.

Seriously? I explained, in plain terms, the biomechanics of that ligament and why it hurts when he throws. Did you even watch the video to help better illustrate?

I'm not saying Luck sucks. However, I think you're way off in the comparison to Manning anytime soon. Manning is a genius at reading defenses once he steps up to the line.

he also shattered the rookie pass attempts record, while putting up Favre-like INT numbers.

Favre had over 20 INTs in six separate years. Manning threw 28 INTs his rookie season. Forgive me if I'm not concerned.

P.S. Phil Rivers has thrown 35 INTs the last two seasons. Remember that saying about those who live in glass houses?

Hopefully, we are both wrong and they both have fantastic, long careers.

And you're still dodging my question. I didn't ask why it hurts when he throws, nor did I ask if it could affect his throws. I asked this:

Why was he able to put up great passing numbers against Philly the week before but not against Dallas? His running was clearly affected against Philly but he ran fine against Dallas. Both of these games occurred AFTER the knee injury.

I think you're grasping at straws. I have no doubt that his knee could affect his throws but to claim it made a HUGE difference in the Dallas game while making NO difference in the Philly game (where he had less time to heal) with no additional qualification seems disingenous. That is what I am asking you to explain. Did he reinjure it? Was he without a brace in Philly but had one in Dallas?

I'm comparing their rookie seasons and their similarities. Luck has had a far better rookie season than Manning did. I do see, however, that I was unclear -- I meant I thought Luck would have a better career than RG3, NOT Manning and Elway. Sorry for the confusion, that's my fault.

The Colts had the 22 best rushing attack in the NFL. The Skins the best(though rg3 had something to do with that)

But, however you look at it, Luck had to win games on his arm and on his arm alone. RG3 didn't.

That's why I think Luck will be better next year. He won 11 games with only his arm. Yes, he had a lot of incompletions and interceptions but every team he faces is geared towards stopping the pass. Even then, he won 11 games passing.

thanks for the correction.

i am not one of rg3's doctors (yet ). i don't know solid facts about his condition. all i can do is speculate and incorporate my knowledge of sports medicine to infer that he probably got a cortisone injection for the philly game. you can't just shoot a player up with cortisone all the time... that's how you end up with season/career-ending injuries. you're limited to only three injections per year. you need to let the tissues heal from the inflammation rather than flush the inflammation out constantly and leave a weaker ligament.

i'm willing to bet that's why the skins sought an independent ortho to clear him for the philly game, because the team physicians couldn't.

therefore he's a better quarterback?

you're trying to limit the role and capabilities of a quarterback to someone who is limited to throwing. yeah, back in the 1950s, that was the only role of the quarterback, but the game has changed a lot since then... the position has changed a lot since then.

Look at past superbowl winners. They all have high volume passing QBs. Rodgers, Brady, Manning, Manning. Luck is in the same mold. He's a volume passer. As a rookie, he's already a damn good one.

Can you turn RG3 into a volume passer? Probably but he won't be able to maintain his high passer rating while I believe Luck can in the future.

I think it is fair to say Alfred Morris and Purple jesus has shown us you do not need a high powered QB/High attempt QB to win games or even have a good run to the post season anymore.

I think defenses have started to move into too much pass defensive schemes, that runnings backs may make a comeback. Even the packers are running on about 25-30% of their plays.

donovan mcnabb did a pretty damn good job in philly... 5 nfc championships and a super bowl...

just saying.

the main thing that you notice with just about every recent super bowl winning team is that they were awesome as a team. they may not have had the best players, but they had the best camaraderie. the only teams that have that togetherness, trust, and friendly bond with each other to where, week in and week out, they just go out and play and have fun, i feel, are the redskins, giants, patriots, packers, and maybe the broncos (holy commas, batman).

Another interesting phenonemon is that over the last several years "platoon backs" were all the rage. But there's been a lot of data to show that going with a workhorse back is actually better. You just let your back get into a groove and wear people down. OC's don't get to scheme happy and keep it simpler. Defenses can't pick up plans based on personel. AP, Morris, Lynch, Rice, Gore, Richardson ect. These guys are grinders and piling on the yards. Look what happened to Carolina when they went to a single back with Williams with Stewart went down. His yards per carry went up, their yards per game went up, and Newton was able to exploit the defense much more.

If there's any one thing that can really keep a defense on it's toes it's the no huddle offense. Just hammer away at plays and keep the defense from being able to substitute out. That has been a major change up to the offense that has dramatically changed the game.

Maybe the picks are a little high but with a crap run game that's gonna happen, IMO Luck will be around for a long time, although he lost the game vs the Pats I came away very impressed with his read/throw time and some his passes looked like Brady darts, that's a good thing for the Colts future..

I like both guys, and even though I'd like to go with RG3, I wonder about how long he'll last. Only time will tell.
