Android 12 inch tablet options ?

I'm guessing the answer is no since I hasven't been able to find anything but are there any speedy 12 inch andriod tablets on the horizon ? The last one was samsung pro but it is quite old (technology wise) these days using a processor that is 3 generation old. I know there is a new 12 inch chrome thingy comming out in a month or two but it is chrome not andriod and has a keyboard (who needs a keyboard on a tablet?).

Mostly I want something with 8+ hours battery life and speedy (the samsung pro 12 was never speedy and today it crawls).

The tablet market is basically stagnant. On both sides (IOS + Android). I really see no need for any more tablets than what is available now.

There is rumors Asus is about to do a 12.5" chromebook that is yoga style (one with a 360 hinge) with core m processors to be announced soon right before the holidays. Said device recently hit the FCC website.

Also rumors for said device is also to support pen input.

While this is a chromebook, chromebooks are about to get google play store apps.

I honestly would never switch over from my Surface Pro line to anything with a mobile operating system anymore. I don't think there is really any Android tablet that is worth it at the moment, and iPad Pro is kind of a joke

I just web browse; read email; watch movies on planes and play a few andriod games. Hence the preference for andriod.

Yeah tablets is general seem to be stagnating.

Been using the Yoga 910s for a while and they've been much better constructed than expected (lots of travel, presentations...etc...) The Miix 510 looks to be interesting also.

I looked, same as you, as I'm an Android person and there was nothing. It boiled down to: Surface Pro vs. Ipad Pro 12".

I went with the iPad, which is my first non-iPod Apple product. The tablet is awesome and IOS/Android are very very close to each other, so I'm content. There are things I dislike about IOS but there are things I dislike about Android as well.

My problem with the apple version (other than I hate apple) is the lack of support for micro-sd cards. I know you can hook up a usb dongle but I rather just plug in the sd (self contained). Cloud just doens't work well on the plane.

Well, if it is like my iPad I can understand the issue here. It isn't necessarily a lack of storage space that is the issue, it is the hoops you have to jump through to get a movie loaded onto the device. On a device with (a) SD card support and (b) non sandboxed apps, all you have to do is slap a SD card in with the movies and play them with your app of choice. With my iPad, I first have to install an app that supports file transfer of the file type I wish to view. Then I have to transfer the movie through that app (or at least with its iTunes data connection). Finally I have to use that same app to access the movie.

The problem with wishing for SD support on iOS devices is that most likely those files wouldn't be able to be accessed anyhow, at least on a non jailbroken device so it would be pointless.

Not the best cpu out there but it gets the job done for what he needs, plus the tablet has a nice resolution and 2 gbs of RAM for not a bad price.


Other than that, you might have to go with a windows tablet or windows 2-in-1.

Just make sure it has 2 gb of RAM, which I believe this model does.

Agree on all fronts. I dislike Apple and I got the 32GB because I didn't want to spend even more for a lowly 128GB. Now I just manage space tightly when I travel. Low space, no SD card, and the annoying method Apple makes you follow to get movies onto the iPad are all negatives that I agree with, but put up with. However, I don't regret my choice as it is an excellent tablet with some serious horsepower that will last me a long time.

Not out yet; have to see the specs. It might be the best option this year if it isn't too heavy and has good battery life.
