Eh, whatever. I just figured Google had more class.
How is using Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jellybean, and Kitkat any different from Lion, Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard, and Mountain Lion?
How much "class" is there in these code names?
First off, how can anyone be comparing things like Cupcake, Eclair, Ice Cream Sandwich, Lion, Leopard, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Chicago, Whistler or Longhorn to KitKat is just beyond me. You're comparing generic names of things to a trademarked candy bar.
Still, I wouldn't have even minded if they did call it KitKat.
Where I draw the line, I think, is in the cross-promotion going on. In this case, so far, it's simply Google saying 'run out and buy KitKat bars and then put your code in to see if you're a winner!'
Look, obviously I'm in the minority here, so fine. But anyone who thinks that KitKat isn't going to be somehow prominently represented in the OS somehow is setting them self up for disappointment, IMO.

I can completely understand what you're getting at here, but there was no money exchanged which shouldn't entitle KitKat any kind of marketing in the core of the OS. I'm leaning more towards there won't be anything related other than a wallpaper or two baked in or maybe flying KitKat Android guys.
If money was exchanged, it would be a completely different story IMO.
Man relax this was a last minute name change and the head programmers at Google love eating kitkats
its just a candy bar!

That would actually be fitting for Windows 8, only I would have said "Hello Kitty Edition" or "Rainbow Bright Edition"Equivalents would be more along the lines of "Microsoft Windows: Skittles Edition"
Codename aside, what are people's guesses at what 4.4 brings?
Equivalents would be more along the lines of "Microsoft Windows: Skittles Edition" or "iOS: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups"
Yea, think how stupid that would be.
no money exchanged? probably got some other benefits. this aint free promotion.
