guys, i need some serious help ASAP.

i'm on a Note 4 with Three in the UK. there is a spam number that has been calling me, ironically, to sell me PPI (i work in a PPI remediation center).

problem: despite them being on my auto reject list, they still manage to ring my phone, and the phone rings at full volume despite being on silent/vibrate. this has happened twice so i know it's a fact.

i work in a DPA office. i cannot take calls and risk a disciplinary if my phone rings during work hours. these idiots are gonna get me fired.

help ...

Try an app like Calls Blacklist (red shield icon) on top of your phone's auto-reject list. Frankly I use it to reject every call not in my contacts. They can still leave a voicemail so they're not cut off completely (if it's that important).

Which version of Android is this? I think since 6.0 there are several levels of "do not disturb". You might want "total silence".

Hmm my caller app doesn't work like that. Blocked numbers don't ring at all, though they can still leave voicemails.

DId you go to to the Galaxy Store app and make sure there are no updates to the samsung phone app (probably not)? You've double checked your call and sound settings to figure out why they're still leaking through?

Last resort might be to try a different phone app from the Play store.

ok, bad news - everything is up to date. somehow these people have found a way that allows them to have a fake number being displayed, and somehow trigger the ringing independent of the phone's settings .. and not getting burned alive by the government.

i can't risk another gaffe, i'll just have to keep my phone off for now.

Is it from the same number or does it change? Can you get video of it? Do they give contact information? Something like that would have to be malware, right? Are you sure there's maybe not some other app that is doing it? Can you put it in airplane mode or something to prevent connections? Or even just turn off the cellular modem (surely there's an app, where you could just enable/disable it without having to delve into settings every time). Granted that doesn't resolve it but it might help short term.

Hell could this be some hijack/plant by the IT system there (basically they check if people connect to the network, and if so, it hijacks like a browser session or something to embarrass people using phones when they shouldn't be at work)?

I seem to recall there was something kinda similar to this being done with some political robocalls, it was different in that it would bypass the ringer but let them leave a voicemail.

Maybe try contacting your provider, they might be aware of some issue?

knowing the IT expertise in my office, i find it very unlikely - they still haven't figured out how to make active desktops work.

the call shows up always with the same number; this number is already in my auto-reject list, so much so that if i select the call, it asks "remove from auto-reject?".

i'm thinking that if they call me, i should probably bait them into giving me contact info. but today i will have to either keep the phone on airplane mode, or off - i'm thinking that reject all could possibly be bypassed.

i tried ringing my provider, they said they cannot do anything. to be honest, Three is a shit provider, specially when it comes to these things.
i installed Truecall which has given me *some* info, and while it unmasked a few fake number from the past, it doesn't find this one. It does however have an option to block it, we shall see.
I'm thinking of maybe making an .mp3 in audigy that is just silence and using it as my ringtone.

i set my ringtone to John Cage's masterpiece, "4:33" which is, obviously, 4 minutes and 33 seconds of pure silence.
hueuhe.
