Samsung Pay doesn't work with my bank yet, so can't try that.

Used Android Pay at Whole Foods the other day. Worked easily, same as Apple Pay.

Android Pay saved my ass last night. Forgot my wallet in Odessa, almost ran out of gas in Midland. Had I not been able to pay using my phone, I would've been stuck till I could wake somebody up to bring me gas/my wallet.

How the hell is this any different from the Google pay we already have?

Android Pay is Google's direct response to Apple Pay from a year ago. It almost entirely eliminates Google's middleman role (this was a major privacy/security concern with Wallet) and makes tap-to-pay easier on Android than it was before.

Hope Discover partners with Google to implement a 11%/22% cashback program like they did with Apple Pay.

Already started using it. Just need a few more of my banks to work with it.

Used it today.

Just having the phone unlocked is a bit nicer than having to unlock the app. Could be placebo, but also verified faster, likely due to not having a middleman.

Yeah, I've used it. Much easier than the old Google wallet way. No app to open, super easy. Seems more secure too since it has direct bank involvement in the enrollment and cuts out the old middleman processor Google used.

Voted Yes as I've already started using Android Pay. I have a new Note 5 waiting for me at home so I'll likely move over to Samsung Pay.

I use cash. Every transaction is crystal clear. You give me stuff, I give you money. No billing issues, no privacy leaks, no hacks.

That's fine, but you're not exactly in the majority with that.

and further, he seems to think using his normal credit card is more secure than using android pay, which is just wrong. When you use your normal credit card every place you use your card is a potential vulnerability. You shopped at target and target got hacked? Your information is compromised. When you use android pay, the only way your card information could get compromised is if google or your bank were hacked. As again, you are using a token authorization, when you use android pay your card information is never given to the merchant. Target would never have your credit card information, so when target gets hacked, they don't get your card. Whereas if you had used your normal credit card, they would have your card.

Why? Its theoretically more secure as it uses a token authorization and doesn't actually give your card info to the merchant.

It isn't a security thing. I just don't want to be "that guy" when I try to use it and nothing happens. In the mean time I have Bubba Ray behind me with his cash out waiting to buy his pork rinds and Natural Light. Nothing good can come from that.

I honestly have never seen anyone use a phone to pay for anything ever. Then again, I live in an area where the 4 barrel carb is still "tech" and Busch Light is a premium beer.

I would at least try it, but since root, xposed, and/or a custom ROM disable all functionality, I can't (yet, I am sure a reliable way to bypass the security will pop up eventually).

Yeah, same here. Cards are not such a hassle that I need to start doing payments by phone. What I'm waiting for is for digital driver's licenses to become a thing so that I don't have to carry a wallet at all. Then I would (have to) use my phone.

It works great at the places it actually works at. Unfortunately right now that is only Lowe's Foods grocery store near my house. I wish every place supported it, I'd leave my cards at home.

And this is what makes samsung pay great, I can just carry my phone and pay at pretty much anywhere that gives me access to the credit card terminal. Samsung pay uses MST which can be used on literally any terminal, doesn't need to use NFC like android and apple pay.

Been using mine for a few weeks and I haven't found a single credit card terminal around here that it hasn't worked with.

I've been able to use it at my work, Stripes gas stations and McDonalds. Works pretty much anywhere you can use an iPhone unless they specifically only support Apple Pay.

Edit: Hey mnewsham, does Samsung's MST tech work with gas pump card readers?
