Android phone problems

So apparently my phone saw me drooling over the Note 3 when I was on the verge of buying that new phone and it has started seriously acting up. This is a Samsung Galaxy SIIX (which is in theory the exact same thing as the T-Mobile S2 - Hercules).

The major issue it the constant resets. Out of the blue (while listening to podcasts, or just checking my calendar, whatever) I will hear about a 3 second tone/buzz then the phone will shut down. It does not restart, it just shuts down, goes to black, then I have to long hold the sleep/power button to fire it up again. This is happening 5 or 6 times per day. Very annoying.

A smaller annoyance is the sleep button has been a lot slower to respond I sometimes have to press it a few times now to get the screen to light up. Other times I press it, then the screen flashes awake quickly, then goes dark again, so I to press it a couple more times to get it up.

I've swapped out batteries, cleaned the dust out of the inside, and uninstalled the last couple of apps I'd installed since before the issues, all to no avail. I'm not really what else to try here.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help.

My son had reboots alot. He removed the SD card and they went away......
Later they started up again and finally the circuit board gave up.
Luckily we had the Sprint insurance. He got a new board with the latest Android
operating system.........

I think you have to factory reset it because it might be hard to diagnose otherwise.

If it still reboots after that you know it's a hardware problem.
You can do a full backup or app backup using Helium to minimize the amount of trouble if that fixes it.

Blah. I guess I need to do a full back-up now. :\

What do people use for this? I tried Kies, but it is slow as molasses and seems to hang for hours just trying to sync my photos.

I just plug it in and drag and drop, take the SDcard out before flashing so nothing can go wrong there. Shouldnt take too long as theres not a massive amount that you should need from the phone storage.

Next time set the SDcard to be default for the camera and an auto upload to Google+ and you'll have even less to worry about.

Thanks, I'll do that drag and drop. I was more worried about all of the contacts and messages and stuff like that.

I use CameraZoom and could not find a way to automatically upload to G+. I know the default camera does, but I hate the default camera.

*Warning Will Robinson* *Warning*

Drag and drop will not back up your messages or contacts.

I use SMS back up and restore which backs up and restores your SMSs (funny that, youd never have guessed would you?) as you go to your SDcard.

All my contacts and emails are Gmail so I don't have to worry about that.

Edit: I think Google+ will upload stuff taken by other camera software as well as long as its not saving them in a funky format or location. I could be wrong there though.

Thanks old bean. I guess the pictures is the biggest thing, though re-syncing all of my offline Rdio music is going to take forever!

You're probably right about the contacts and e-mail, I guess it's all up in the vapours somewhere.

Can you install a system monitor app or a logcat to see what's causing it? If it's a hardware problem, factory reset is not going to help.

I can install whatever as long as I do not need to be rooted. Any recommendations?
