Angels and Demons

I picked up a second copy of the Da Vinci Code, and while I was there I figured I'd grab Angels and Demons, also by Dan Brown. It's supposedly a "prequel", of sorts. I hear it follows the same idea and the main character is Robert Langdon, being the guy from TDC. I plan on reading it sometime soon.

So, if you read it, what did you think of it?

I read Angles & Demons and then Da Vinci Code. The Vatican incident and Vittoria mentioned in Da Vinci Code can be found in A&D.

A&D >>>>>>>> Da Vinci

Haven't seen the movie yet.

I don't remember either book very well, but I do remember enjoying Angels & Demons more than The Da Vinci Code. All of Brown's books seem to follow the same basic formula.

I enjoyed them both very much. It's pretty safe to say if you liked TDC, then you'll like Angels & Demons.

Although, A&D was my favorite of the two.

I figured as much. I'm definitely looking forward to reading it, because I loved the Da Vinci Code, enough to read it again.

Thanks, guys.

Angels & Demons is much better than the Da Vinci Code. Dan Brown focuses more on good storytelling and less trying to pass off fiction as fact.

I didn't care for it much. I read it after I read "The DaVinci Code" and even though "Angels and Demons" did precede DaVinci, it just felt like it was a rehash of the same story. He uses the same plot devices and not-so-clever twists and I just found "Angels and Demons" to be even more hair-brained than the DaVinci code.

With all of that being said, I was sort of entertained and I guess that is all that matters.

I've read all of Dan Brown's books, and I must say that Angels and Demons was the best out of them all.

I thought Angels and Demons was good. I also liked The DaVinci Code. I'm not really sure which one I liked better, I guess about the same.

I read Angels and Demons, but haven't read Da Vinci Code yet. It was a decent story, but the way the author writes the main character annoyed the hell out of me. I was told he does the same thing in Da Vinci Code, which is one of the main reasons I never got around to reading that one.
I hated the way that every single discovery made the main character practically have an orgasm in his pants. Its like he spends half the book in this incredulous state of disbelief. Just got on my nerves after a while.

I like Da Vinci Code better, it's a better overall book. A&D, however, had some more interesting theories and ideas about christianity, imo.

Read about twenty pages before I found I'd ten times rather re-read "Reality Dysfunction" (which by the first paragaph is way past orbit and is quickly dealing with anti-matter in practical applications ), than waste more time on Mr. Brown.

If he could just sit back and come up with ideas (which are entertaining enough in "The Da Vinci Code" and leave plot and writing to others, then I might pick him up again.

I liked the Code more. I don't read most fiction to pick apart the novelist, thinking of ways to criticize and insult him, I read for entertainment value. Simply put, A&D wasn't on par with the Code in this area.

I read A&D first and liked it. I thought TDC was better.

I just finished Digital Fortress and think its a steaming pile of dog poop.

He's definately getting better as he goes along.

Angels and Demons does have ridiculous actions from the characters, but it's a fun read overall. In comparison to The Da Vinco Code, Angels and Demons has less history, less puzzles (practically no puzzles), and more action.

Both have surprise endings though.
