Free-mium, ie you can now sign up for free access to reviews as well as write them, with additional premium subscriptions.

I've found their reviews helpful over the years, much more reliable in some service categories than Yelp, but that was before anyone could write them, like Yelp. :\

Now, the green membership gives users free access to companies in more than 700 service categories along with verified reviews and ratings, as well as receiving Angie’s List ANGI -2.41% digital magazine.

The two other tiers, silver and gold, cost $24.99 and $99.99 each year, respectively. Those subscribers will have access to enhanced customer service, as well as pricing and quality guarantees, according to the company.

After 20 years of charging a membership, it's now free to join says the website. Screw Angieslist. Homeadvisor is much better and has been free since inception.
