3 starring has solely to do w/your total score.

it is very easy to blow everything up w/1 bird and have 2 extra birds left, but that extra 20k would be less than if you tried to destroy everything using all 3 birds.

I figured this was the case but I guess I never checked to see how many points I got for destroying more pieces of the level. Figured the extra 10,000 points per bird was a good deal, but I guess not.

Anyway I'm usually happy to just be able to finish a level at all; some of them are so hard it takes me dozens of tries just to complete it without even trying for a better score.

I played this for a little while, but then got pissed because the physics in the physics game were fairly random.

once you get the hang of hte game, and you get 2 stars, you can usually figure out what the point boundary is for hte 3 stars, just based on the actual level.

most of them are evenly divisible by 5000, although I think there are a few I've seen that aren't.

i believe there also MAY be some other sort of formula for some levels ... like 65k w/1 bird left, or 70k w/no birds left ... something of that extent. but i'm not positive about this one yet. i just could have sworn this past weekend i got a LOWER score than my previous score, but I got 3 stars instead of the 2 I had. but pretty sure I had 1 bird left over as well.

I understand the fuss but I'd much rather play my PSP or DS. Are there seriously full length advertisements before you can play it now? WTF? The 2 minutes to kill yourself thing is even lamer.

I've never seen a full length ad in any game. There's one game that occasionally shows pop-up ads (yes, they take up almost the whole screen) between some levels but they can be dismissed instantly. And that's really the exception... most of the games I have use small, inconspicuous text ads. Some don't even put ads on the screen in-game, only in the menus.

yeah.. I remember when it first showed up on the "best selling apps" list, I downloaded the free version, went "oh, it's one of those knock things down games", played the demo levels and deleted it. Didn't seem like anything special.

well if you only played a few levels you didn't get to see the other birds and types of structures you have to blow up. it is a very solid puzzle game later on in the tougher levels.

i also think that the look and feel of this game is what gets people. personally i think this game has some of the best sound out of any mobile game out there, yet the sound is so simple.

I feel sorry for the fat bird. His war cry is so...lazy and uninspired.

I found the game to be pretty boring. Not sure why it generated so much hype.

In other news, Shift (adapted from the web flash game) and Shift2 (just saw a sequel on for free) on the iPhone is great!

Yes it is the same physics based game where you toss objects across the screen at other objects that has been around forever. I don't get it either. It's nothing special or new, I'd rather play flight control than that game.

The fact that they are making a movie out of it and that the creators have talked shit about consoles/PC gaming pisses me off though. As if their game is some technical achievement.

Every time I see Angry Birds I think of all the "Elf Bowling" games where you shot elves in thongs at bowling pins or shuffleboard style or any number of flash games that have been out forever.

Cut The Rope and Fruit Ninja are both more entertaining.

Yeah, I finished cut the rope in maybe 2 hours getting all stars even the latest levels.

Angry birds with all the constant new levels, the holiday packs and still trying to 3 star everything = replay value. 3 starring everything takes a whole lotta thought and puzzle solving.

Having more levels isn't a measure of how good a game is.

many of these phone games are designed as time killers while waiting for something else...not sit down play to master them.

For their intended purpose they are very good. Short learning curve, short game play.

Exactly. If you are in a boring meeting, you can half play Angry Birds while listening. Pulling out a DS would probably not be the smart move.

Cut the rope is WAY too easy to complete. Nothing brings me back to play it and even new levels are mastered in an hour.

Not all of us are as good as you, Spidey . Although, right now I have 3 stars on all levels but two .
