i dont understand y they covered the sky to prevent the machines from using solar power. nuclear power werent doable?
anyway, great story line!

Yah, that's the biggest complaint I have over the Matrix universe. Why didn't the machines just go nuclear? They had nuclear weapons. I'd imagine a nuclear reactor is more efficient than a human farm. Other than that, Renaissance Pt. II was awesome. Osiris was just amazing. Can't wait for Reloaded and the rest of the Animatrix.

don't forget that as the movie said "humans are an infinite renewable source" therefore nuclear power wouldn't be feasible since there is such a limited supply. Yeah a little can go a long way, but eventually the uranium would be all depleted.

Story line is still water-tight to me.

water tight? how come the robots put humans in modern times? why not the stone age? maybe the answer is that there wouldn't be enough people, but I think that answer is stupid because you could create 10,000 earths, and place some tribes of ancient people on each one, that way there would be tons of human energy sources, and they really wouldn't be able to figure out the matrix.

and why didn't the humans use TMP's to kill the machines? Or build machines with no AI to kill the machines? Its only a movie/cartoon series, its like saying how come mutants have so many weird powers that can't be physically possible like controlling the weather patterns.

much as i love it, your right the story does not hold up. For instance, Supposedly at some time the machines takeover. I dunno when that is but why start the matrix up just a couple hundred years before that? What are they going to do when they get there???

To answer theshiz:

Nobody really figured out the matrix, only those that are free from its bonds realize its existance beyond the senses of other human beings. In the movie what do you think the blacksuits were for? To police.

To answer kero:

If you look watch the second ren. part 2 you'll see a part where humans are using some type of laser plasma crap. The tmp's are not ludicrious because if you think about it guns are have been in our history for a long time. Yeah its only a piece of fast moving metal, but its still effective nevertheless, so wouldn't you use a tmp vs. your fists?

To answer tec:

What do you mean why start it before they control the humans? did you forget the part about the dark sky? The sun was their source of energy before so with a black sky what are they going to use? The narrator said that the human's knew this which was the motivation for their action in the first place. If they didn't find that "infinite renewable resource" soon then they would've died as soon as their batteries ran out

why didn't the humans use TMP's
I think its EMP~. I read somewhere that if you detonate a large enough EMP at a high enough altitude you can disable almost all electronics across a huge land area. This true?

Water tight?! Are you insane? Humans as an infinetly renewable source of energy? Maybe you've heard about the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics?!

Alright, breathing deeply.... not going to "hulk out". My mind is my sanctuary... desire to kill subsiding....

The idea that human beings can be used for energy is so flawed, it's laughable. I love the Matrix as much as anyone, but the whole using humans as an energy source is just bad science.

I'd love to get into it all, but
this guy does a much better job than I could ever hope to do.

a nuke was detonated on the 01's city(machine city) and nukes release a EMP wave which disables all the electronics in the area so why didn't the robots malfunction?
thats assuming all of you know some physics...

Naw rig not what i was saying. I meen they tried a few diff realities, and found they couldn't create a believable ficticious reality, so they chose the late 20th/early 21st century. Supposedly its a simulation of that time period because they couldnt create a substantial artificial reality. What happens when they get to the late 21st or whatever when the humans in that time line have the conflict with AI? If they haven't the programing language to create anything non reality based how can they create an alternative to what is really going to happen in the "Matrix" they created. Seems like a system destined to fail and according to the movie when the humans in the matrix dont accept their reality"whole crops were lost". Get it?

Here is where I could post some spoilers from Reloaded that explain some stuff, but I shall refrain.

so why didn't the robots malfunction?

Now you know what they did with all the gold they bought when their economic powerhouse overcame that of "mere humans."

EMP hardened systems baby!

I was going to say: "Sheesh, it's just a movie." But after reading GLITCHES IN THE MATRIX . . . AND HOW TO FIX THEM from the link you posted, I can see your points. I still, however, say: "It's just a movie" and just enjoy the story, however unbelievable it is, enjoy it. Far too many other things in this life to worry about IMHO.

Thanks for the link though, very enjoyable read.

It was one of the previews for the movie "Dreamcatcher", which might still be in
theaters (around here, it's in the cheapo theaters).

I've tried looking for it online with no success...It will be released as part of the
Animatrix DVD, but you probably knew that already.

I've been sitting here reading that link for 3 hours, and it'm still not done. It's a VERY good read though. THanks for the link.

Anyone else have the urge to stop the further development of AI after watching these cartoons?

I second that... the thing about that one robot who killed his masters could come true, and the way they handled the protests- seemed likely. Cause when you think about it, would you be idealistic enough to give robots human rights? I think the world is too egocentric and prideful to accept robots.

And what defines a man from a robot? A good movie to see that relates to this is "Bicentential Man" with robin williams. These philosophical issues, stretch the mind.
