Gundam... all of it...

I think they need start in the Universal Century timeline. Im a bit out of the loop when it comes to alternative timeline series.

OP.... Perhaps SDF Macross and related series.

I'm partial to Fairy Tail myself.

Why not just show One Piece instead? Fairy Tail is pretty much One Piece with magic and worse story arcs .

School Rumble
One Piece
Naruto
Eyeshield 21
Full Metal Panic Fumoffu
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

I could see doing Fumoffu, but I would not recommend Gurren Lagann unless you skip the last half of the series. The philosophical bullshit will just have kids scratching their heads.

Naruto and One Piece may be. Full Metal Panic is not exactly funny to kids.

If you're referring to FMP or FMP Second Raid, those aren't really "kiddy" animes, but Fumoffu might be alright. It's a lot more light-hearted and rather humorous.

I disagree, I think the base story is more solid, and the arcs are way better. Take DBZ, cut out the 90% of crap filler, and add some solid Celtic music, and you have Fairy Tail. Obviously more of a kid's show, but I enjoy it.

The latest Edolas arc isn't really that great... definitely cannot compare to epicness One Piece's latest Marineford arc. The Phantom Lord arc is probably the best arc so far in Fairy Tail.

Although, I should admit that I just read the Fairy Tail manga... I haven't had much interest in watching the show after seeing a few episodes. I also usually only watch One Piece ever so often, but keep up with the manga.

I can't believe what I'm reading. This man must be insane.

The plot goes something like this:

5 episodes of: "GRRRRR GRRRR GAAAAHAHAH AAAAAAAH!" And monologues
Next episode: Some fighting.
Next episode: "NOW I WILL USE MY TRUE STRENGTH!"
5 more episodes of: "GRRRRR GRRRR GAAAAHAHAH AAAAAAAH!" And monologues
Next episode: Some fighting.
Next episode: "NOW I WILL REALLY REALLY USE MY TRUE STRENGTH!"
Repeat until end.

That shit was awesome when I was younger. Now that I am older and have seen it all.. I just skip through a lot of the bad filler.

I have younger sisters that are 15 (kind of a young 15) and really getting into anime. What would you guys recommend for them? They've watched Avatar and liked it, also were very into 12 Kingdoms.

Sisters? Azumanga Daioh is usually popular with girls as a light-hearted, but fun anime.

I might be way off base as this is just what I've heard. But the original Japanese version of Shin Chan was a kiddie show. I know the US version is not sutable for a 5 yo, but the same style of show without the added adult content would be pretty good for a child.

It depends quite a bit on if we are talking about buying DVDs with dubs, or if they are inclined at all to watch subs (in other words, some of the stuff that's not out here or never will be). It also would help to get an idea of their tastes, but may be hard to do if they haven't watched much.

Some thoughts of the top of my head without knowing too much would be:
Clannad & Clannad After Story
Kannon (2006 version)
Toradora
Angel Beats

You can look at the details of the above and others here.

If you want to go into real detail and try to narrow it down to something they may like, feel free to PM me.

Crest of the Stars / Banner of the Stars
Fruits Basket
Princess Nine
Read or Die
I've heard decent things about His & Her Circumstances.

Looking for something to watch with the kids. We are currently having a blast watching the Last Airbender series (which I guess is not technically anime since it is American) and my boy (5) loves basically anything by Studio Ghibli. Are there any kid friendly anime series out there worth checking out besides Pokemon and DBZ?

Battle Athletes Victory & OVA
Fighting Spirits (Hajime no Ippo)

Check out Dragonball Kai. It's a remastered/hd version of DBZ. Good Stuff

Also, I've seen this anime movie where the world is on the back of a giant turtle I think. Any ideas?

One of the One Piece movies is set on one. Giant Mecha Soldier of Karakuri Castle.

They visits an island, known as Mecha Island. As it turns out, the islands true form, is that of a giant turtle.
