The wife (from 2006):

Strangely tranquil and placid:

AlienBabelTech in the coming:

In 2009, the wife got a 4GHz Core i7 upgrade with lapped Thermalright IFX-14 and DFI UT X58 T3eH8 mobo with UV green slots (it was still running a black 8800GTX instead of HD 4870 1GB, and HDTV Wonder 650):

1. Post a picture of your current computer rig.

2. List your complete computer specs

Core i5 2500K @ 3.9 GHz
EVGA GTX 560 Ti 1GB
650W Corsair HX
Asus P8Z68-V LE
8GB Corsair DDR3-1600
64GB Crucial M4
1TB Western Digital Black
500GB Western Digital Blue external
LG DVD Burner
2x 19" Monitors, 1600x1200 & 1280x1024
Logitech G400 mouse
Generic old case
Generic Microsoft keyboard
Harmon Kardon 2.0 Speakers

3. Tell me briefly why you want the card, and what you will do with it.

I'd install it in my rig to get better performance in Battlefield 3, Arkham City, and Sleeping Dogs. Main motivation for entering is to then hand down my 560 Ti to my brother, who only has an 8600GT.

4. Create a demotivational picture/lolcats/failblog type of picture and post it.

Hey wassup cusideabelincoln!

You need it the most!

Also upgrade your monitor too, even right now, to get more out of your 560 Ti right now!

Dang. The 6950 I thought I was buying is not available now until the seller gets back to town (at least another week, week and a half).

This leaves my main PC video-less for the time being, but...it must mean I'm fated to win a 670, right?

560 handles most games way more than I need it to, but I do love getting over 60 fps. Battlefield 3 is annoying though, because even at 60 fps it doesn't feel very smooth and AA drags my framerates below that.

I'm saving up for a 144 Hz monitor. Can't stand the motion blur of 60 Hz LCDs.

I think this is one of those times where having a star trek ship on top of your case actually makes sense. Or it could be a modern miniature-sized coffee table... hmmm

Obviously its an ironing board for a midget.

Obviously its an ironing board for a midget.

Lol that is some stylish ironing board

But i don't think it is intended for a midget for two reasons.

1. Putting it on top of a case is too high.
2. Midget will be blinded by those LEDs before he reaches the board.

First, let me say thank you, Annisman, for the opportunity, and for your generosity towards the Anandtech community.

The timing for this contest is incredible! Granted, I'm not expecting to win, but I certainly qualify and would love to enter.

1. My current rig (please forgive the mess of wires and dust, I will explain more below):

2. My current rig specs:

Mobo - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P
CPU - Intel Q9550 2.83 GHz
Video Card - MSI N260GTX-T2D896 OC GeForce GTX 260
RAM - 8 GB G.Skill DDR2 1066
Case - Antec 900
PSU - Corsair 620W
Hard Drive - 600 GB boot / 1 TB Data
OS - Windows 7 Pro

3. Why I want one of the GTX 670s and what I will do with it:

I will put it in my NEW rig that is only missing a video card and CPU!

Mobo - ASRock Z75 PRO3
CPU - Intel i5-3570K 3.4 GHz <---- ORDERING NEXT WEEK
Video Card - ????
RAM - 16 GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600
Case - Corsair Carbide 300R
PSU - Corsair CX600M 600W
Hard Drive - Kingston 120GB SSD / 2 TB Data x2
OS - Windows 7 Pro

I built my current rig in 2009. My file server started to die last month, so I decided to build a new desktop, and convert my current rig into the new file server / media server. I've been slowly piecing the new rig over the last few weeks, waiting on sales as I gotta save $$$ where I can. Plus, I've been selling a ton of stuff on eBay to raise money for the new build! The most agonizing decision has been the video card, and I've not pulled the trigger for a multitude of reasons (the #1 reason being the cost). The CPU will be ordered next week. As I said above, the timing of this contest is great, and I'm hoping my entry is eligible!

ETA - If I win, the card will be put in the new desktop which will be used for lots of gaming, media conversions, distributed computing, music training (piano, guitar), video watching, etc.

As to why my current desktop has wires hanging out and is dusty - I had to replace a dying case fan, and put a hard drive in from the old server. Since I'm building a new rig, I'm not worried about cable management at this time. However, when it's ready, you can be certain it will look 100% clean when completed.

I'll start updating the list of qualified entries some time tomorrow, so far I don't see any issues with any of them.

1. Pic of Current Rig

2. Specs

Gigabyte GA-A75M-S2V (FM1)
AMD A4-3400 APU
16gb Patriot DDR3-1333 RAM (2x8gb)
3gb Radeon Dual Graphics HD 6410D (APU w/ 1gb System RAM + dedicated 2gb MSI R6450)
OCZ Vertex 4 128gb SSD (Boot)
Seagate ST31000524AS 1TB (Storage)
22x Samsung DVD Burner
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950Q TV Tuner
Thermaltake 500w PSU

3. The why and what...

I want the card because it would be a serious upgrade to the current GPU I am using. While my current system specs are on the light side, it was an interim solution after my Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe w/ Phenom 9850 died. A future build is in the works centered on an FX-8350. The GTX 670 would be icing on the cake and used for light gaming as well as video editing.

4. A lolcats pic (A blatant attempt at touching on Annisman's topics of choice.) (You prolly won't die of laughter, but aiming for a decent chuckle.)

Hats off to Annisman for another chance at a great giveaway!

2. List your complete computer specs

Asus M5A97
Phenom II X6 1045T (OC to 3.7GHz)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
8GB Crucial Ballistix
WD Velociraptor 500GB
Antec Earthwatts 500W
GTS 250 512MB
Antec Sonata III
Win 7 64, Xubuntu, Backtrack, Linux Mint
Hitachi DVD Writer
22" Acer Monitor

3. Tell me briefly why you want the card, and what you will do with it.

I want to be able to play my games (Civ V, Dishonored, Metro 2033 are most recent) at higher than low to medium quality. My GTS 250 with only 512MB RAM (and it's ghetto case fan mod), while it has served me well, is a poor gamer these days.

I am also planning to get a 3D printer in the near future, so the GTX 670 would be a nice upgrade for 3D rendering. The GTS 250 would be passed down to my SO, and her 9600GT 512MB would be retired.

4. Create a demotivational picture/lolcats/failblog type of picture and post it.

3. Tell me briefly why you want the card, and what you will do with it:

My 2 year old daughter has been begging for a GPU upgrade after she found out what all the cool kids in day care were rockin' in their own rigs at home. Daddy would love a GPU upgrade as well! I just graduated college last May (finally!) so I have a little more time for gaming nowadays!

Annisman, I just want to tell you what you are doing here is really great, and I appreciate it (even if I don't win!). Thank you for the opportunity!

I will need to capture a picture of my neighbor's cat napping on my car 1st, then I will enter this awesome contest. You rock OP!

BTW to the poster above me, Arik5405, why is your i5 2500K only scoring 6.3 on the windows score? I have an older generation i5 750, and it scores 7.6.

I don't know why it scored so low on the first run? Maybe I didn't have all the correct drivers installed? I will rerun it tonight after work and see what I get.

Sorry guy's I've been working the midnight shift this week so most of the day I'm just sleeping. Will def. update qualifying entries in a day or so, but like I said everyone's seem fine so far at first glance.

Also, rather surprised there is such small interest in the STEAM games, considering the qualifications for entering as so low.

I think the fact you are doing this at all is plenty, you get the rest you need, OK?

Can I qualify for both?

Annisman Hardware Giveaway

Thanks Annisman for another giveaway!

For my current rig, I actually had to sell my GTX670 because it's some hard times right now. Working 2 jobs (plus some contract work) and moving to a smaller apartment too. And I sold my HD 5870. And my GTX260 is dying. So I'm reduced to a HD5670 and a GT240. I haven't bought a new game in awhile, but I still miss playing games on ultra-high settings. Playing Black Mesa, Borderlands, and about a dozen other games I haven't gotten around to yet because there's not enough time between the jobs!

Specs:
CPU Core i7 920
RAM 12GB DDR3-1333
Motherboard eVGA X58 FTW3
GPU eVGA GT 240 512MB DDR5 (So I don't have to reinstall drivers. I'm lazy)
SSD OCZ Vertex4 256GB
HDD 2TB Seagate Barracuda
PSU Zalman ZM-850HP 850W PSU

This is my trusty Core i7 Rig I've had since 2009. The only picture I have is with the GTX 670 in it still.
I only recently sold my GTX 670 a few weeks ago to pay for rent. If you want me to take a new picture, I will. Just let me know!
SANS GTX 670...

Also, I bet a lot of you are like "He has a crap ton of computers!" I do! The servers are for one of my jobs. I just personally own and run them. Same with the Macs. The Core2 systems... well, I've had those for 4-6 years each. But still... no good graphics card anymore.

Also, here's a fail picture from my old job as an Apple Service Provider.

That was a doubletake. No motherboard!

But wait, in this photograph; you gotta glance twice. It almost looks like no motherboard is installed; until I realized all that metal was massive CPU fans blocking the visibility of the motherboard. It almost looked like the opposite side of the computer case; the fan heatsink is the same color as the case metal.

The invisible motherboard!

never gonna sell this one

specs :
athlon 64 x2 4400+ at 2.7 ghz
2 gb ddr2 800
gt 610 2gb
creative audigy sound card
cooler master elite 430 ($15 bucks)
2 320 gb hard drives (one sata one ide)

games that I really want :
half life 2
the witcher 1 enhanced edition
far cry 1
call of duty 2

The reason I want these games is cause I think I've gotten away from really enjoying video games trying to sell systems and convincing people that pcs are better than consoles . I remember working through every weekday just to play project gotham racing with my dad and my first time playing cod4 on super bowl sunday after watching so much gameplay on it and finally saving up enough to buy it . I seriously miss that feeling and I want to get back to that .

Your rig is screaming for this:
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2295747

I gamed on a X2 5200+ and 9600GT for 2 years, and they're pretty much the perfect pair. It would be a bit more than twice as fast as your GT610. Runs on a Dell 305W PSU, so yours shouldn't be a problem. $30 is a good price for one.

I'd give you mine, but I broke the fan on my 6770 twice trying to re-seat the heatsink (the darned XFX mounting system just will NOT let me make good contact) so I'm back to using it until I get enough patience back to glue that thing back together for a third time.
