Guidelines and restrictions for entering to win a GTX 670

1. Your current graphics card must be LOWER than GTX 580/660ti for Nvidia, and HD 7870 for AMD/ATI. Don't know where yours falls ? Check the heirarchy chart: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html. Or ask !

Also, CF/SLI setups must be taken into account when determining your eligibility.

Edit: If you yourself personally own a video card this disqualifies you from entering, you may not enter for the GTX 670s, even though you may have other PCs that are eligible, you yourself are not eligible to enter. So if your gaming PC has a GTX 680 in it, but your family PC has a HD 4850, you still cannot enter. I hope that is clear.

so let me get this straight - even though 3 of my machines are perfectly eligible for the GTX 670 raffle, the fact that i have an HD 7950 in my other machine disqualifies me?...even though it is an all compute, no gaming GPU, 24/7? i just want to be clear on this stipulation, and i don't want to waste your time w/ an entry if i am indeed not qualified for the GTX 670.

bummer...thanks for the clarification though. i was hoping to offload one of my GTX 560 Ti's and replace it w/ the GTX 670. i crunch Einstein@Home BRP tasks on my GTX 560 Ti 1GB, each of which take up 250+ MB of video memory, so while 3 simultaneous tasks run just fine, 4 simultaneous tasks pushes and sometimes exceeds the 1GB memory limit, not to mention reveals the point of diminishing returns as far as E@H on a GTX 560 Ti 1GB GPU goes. with a GTX 580 3GB/670 2GB/680 2GB, i'd have more than enough video memory to run 6 simultaneous E@H BRP tasks, maybe more (although 6 simultaneous tasks is more likely to max out GPU core usage long before memory gets maxed out).

at any rate, i think its quite commendable what you're doing here...thanks for the opportunity :thumbsup:

it really isn't my thing...believe it or not, 7 of the 8 GPUs in my sig are dedicated to distributed computing 24/7...the GTX 560 Ti that resides in the same box as the HD 7950 is the one GPU i leave free for occasional gaming/encoding/video playback/web surfing.

My 5850 is a great card but is getting a bit long in the tooth. I generally have to run all my games with most effects off (like shadows lol) or my fps is very low. The card also has a hard time with Dx11. Honestly, I would just love to play my Shogun 2 with DX11 and a higher frame rate than 15 - 25 fps in battles.
One day, right after the warranty expired, the screws holding the fan in place decided that they wanted a divorce and promptly jumped ship. I had to tie the fan to the GPU with twist ties.
I can't afford an upgrade so I'm working with what I got.
I would like the GTX670 so I can play games with all the effects enabled at 60 fps and not have to worry about the fan falling off.

What I would do with the card:
The card would be used to play modern games. My current card, as much as I love it, isn't able to keep up anymore. A friend at work got a new video nvidia card and every day tells me how great it is to max out Skyrim. Being able to play all the games in my steam account with high-quality settings would be amazing. I've never had a high-end card so this would be a huge upgrade over anything I've ever had.
