I maintain a mostly up to date machine because of work - but the one thing the wife refuses to let me spend on is a new video card, because it's not work related. So, I have been stuck with the 460 for several years now - which is still enough to play modern games, but at definitely reduced settings. And Skyrim - I drool over the high res texture packs, which would kill my poor 460.

My 8800GTS died and now I have HD2600 pro. Saving money for HD7770 or maybe HD7790 when it comes out.

As a side note: I cant understand why someone would give away $500+ in hardware. Maybe because I'm from poor country and here you can't find that kind of deal. Rich get richer, poor get poorer...

Torchlight II just came out not long ago and it runs great on my laptop which has a gma960 in it. There are also a lot of non intensive games out which will play well on lesser video hardware.

Besides that, on steam you can get tons of the really old great stuff, even DOS games, so I don't get why you are complaining.

As for being poor, don't even try to go there. there are poor people here too, and I happen to be one of them - being on disability sucks. Yes, I have a 6 core thuban and hd6850 but in order to have it I am renting a single bedroom out of an apartment and living with a roommate in this bedroom... all our stuff is in here, we just rent the bedroom. I also only own one pair of shoes and two outfits I can wear outside. You choose your battles, and you choose your surroundings, even when poor.

Oh... and I regularly (once to twice a year) give away systems that are worth $~500... I get the parts and trade parts and scrounge for parts and donate systems to people in need. I just don't brag about it. (well until now... )

I'm a fairly big gamer and tech enthusiast, this would make a great addition to my computer, I could run it as my primary GPU and the 580 could remain in for dedicated PhysX.

But more importantly it would give me a 2nd card for running CUDA GPGPU applications. I actually do a lot of security work as a hobby and do a lot of brute force hash cracking to test password strengths, the apps I use can do distributed hash cracking across multiple GPUs so that would massively speed up that which would be really cool. I recently finished downloading 3Tb of rainbow tables and itching test them out on some kick ass hardware!

The 5850 has served me well, but is now struggling at higher resolutions with newer games, so it would a be really nice upgrade. I've also done some Folding for Anandtech in the past, so I'd like to get back into that as well.

I would love to use the GTX 670 so I can actually play games like BF3 or Far Cry 3 with high setting and no stutter. Being able use graphic mods for Skyrim will also be a big plus to me.
