annoying mouse issue when overclocking...

I'm running a KR7A (non-raid) board. At 133mhz fsb everything is fine. At 145mhz fsb the mouse pointer strobes between the arrow and the hourglass almost constantly. Otherwise it's a very stable overclock. The mouse is a standard Logitech 3 button serial mouse.

Anyone else see this type of behavior?

First sign of loss of stability when OC'ing is mouse locking for me.

That hasn't been a problem for me. It just flickers...it's like there is some app running in the background but I know there is not. Other than the mouse thing it's completely stable.

is the mouse on usb? if so, put it on ps2.

Yeah, same problem -and even worse: mouse not detected, etc.- with my old ABIT KA7.

To solve this, change the mouse to another connector technology (to PS2, perhaps better than to USB) and/or change the mouse itself to another brand's. I realized that some mice were more sensible to this problems than others; trial & error, you know...

It is a standard ps/2 mouse..not usb. If changing your mouse makes a difference it's obviously a driver issue since hardware wouldn't affect any changes in this case AFAIK.

I have a trackball I could try but everyone in the house but me hates using it

any thoughts on other brands of mice ? am running an intellimouse optical w\FSB at 150 with no problems. go higher and other things happen , but mouse seems to work just fine.

My brother had this same problem with his Logitech Cordless Mouseman connected to either the PS/2 or USB port, overclocked or not. Turns out it was actually the modem causing the problem. The modem in this case was a US Robotics 56k internal. Might just be a defective modem like I believe ours was. Using a different modem got rid of the problem.

I'm using a USR ext usb voice modem. Guess it would be easy enough to check out though I can't think of why it would effect anything. Thanks for the info.
