There is a point to that if they're doing it right. It's not that they're worried about hurting themselves. It's to get out every last ounce of strength in a set. The spotter will lift just a couple of pounds off the weight to help you complete the last 1 or 2 reps.

I see spotters who help on every rep. It's retarded.

On every rep of a machine?

That is beyond stupid... I've never actually seen that.

EDIT: over 5k posts... too bad no new title for it

Why would that annoy you, I think at most it would just be amusing.

So so true. In fact, I have a rule about locker rooms that the more of an old, fat, nasty shrivelled-up wreck of a human being some guy is, the more likely he is to treat the locker room like his personal nudist colony. I don't really care that much, but FFS be a little courteous, especially if you're nasty enough to cause nightmares.
BTW, my other rule about locker rooms (and single guys don't usually know this because us married types find out from our wives) is that the men get screwed. The women's locker rooms are usually plush and private and curtained-off, the men usually get spigots on a wall. It's true, I swear it. Even at expensive clubs.

I can let a scream slide every now and again, but only if the guy is lifting a lot of iron. The worst are the moaners/screamers that do it all the time and while lifting mediocre weight.

I think it is trending back the other way now especially in bigger cities. The new place I just joined had a open house night (pre-opening) and you could walk everywhere in the club. Undoubtedly that will be the only time I'll be in the Women's locker room but it was exactly the same as the Men's except no urinals.

Large private frosted glass enclosures w/ rain shower heads too.

Or pull ups, or sit ups

pull ups i can kinda forgive as you need something high to hang from and there's not many places to do it (at least at my gym). however, for curls, you can do them just about anywhere :|

I generally go to the gym at the same time every day, so I see the same people....and the same ones scream with just about every rep of every set. I don't care how much weight they're doing...for someone not as strong, benching 115 might be the same amount of effort as a bigger person benching 350, but I highly doubt ANYONE needs to scream with every rep.

I wouldn't be annoyed by that if the gym actually had enough machines that they didn't have to impose time limits.

when i was doing cardio i would put a towel or shirt over the clock and it had nothing to do w/me going over the time limit. i did it because mentally i did not want to know hwo much time i had left because 1/2 of running is a mind game.

Huh, our gym has plenty of places. Which is why I get so annoyed when people take up the only place to do squats/cleans/bench press!

It is either that or when the TV sets in the cardio area are tuned to Univision for some inexplicable reason...maybe the cleaning staff borrowed the remote

messed upp

I agree with the nudity problem though, it happened to me in the school gym all the time, super weird when you can have the same professorrr in class later on....

QFT!!! And yes, i've used the squat rack to do pull-ups sometimes as well. How do you use the squat rack to do sit-ups?

We have the combined squat rack and bench press setup. (One side squats, the other side bench, they are the same except one has the wooden flooring and the other side space for the bench) But sometimes people replace the bench with the situp bench to do decline press, low and behold some moron comes up and instead of switching it out just starts doing situps! *sigh*

-People who sit and talk on the cellphones while on the machines.

-People who don't lift properly at all. Poor form, poor execution. Especially those that just overload for their triceps pulldown or bench press and they bend their back, don't fully move their arms, blah blah...

-People who listen to the SAME music that's on the pop radio station playing in the gym on their mp3 player.

-People who don't put weights up. I really don't feel like always putting away the dumbells or weights from a bar when I get to it.

-It's not annoying, but I'm still trying to figure out what kind of regimen people are doing when they do their whole body in one day.

-The people who really overload on bicep curls and do it wrong.

-It's getting close to that time of year. Soon, all the people trying to do their New Year's resolution will CROWD the gym, doing all of the stuff said above.

That being said, it's sexy seeing a gal doing squats correctly, I can't explain why.

Oh I've got a new one that happened today. Fat women that take the two strider cardio machines with the pulse monitor and don't even go fast enough to break a sweat, then they just stand there blabbing and reading US Weekly. Not that I have anything against fat people, but there's no point in coming to the gym if you're not even going to break a sweat.

Also the guys that use 3 pieces of equipment at once. But not really use them just save them and inform you that they are saving them when you try to use it.

That doesn't bother me but if they look like a begginer I will offer them some advise about form or tell them to lighten up on the weight and explain why

Uhh.. if they are listening to their MP3 Player how do you know what kind of music they have and since they are using headphone why would it bother you

Again I don't understand why it should annoy you.?

We call them "Resolutioners" I go to the gym in the morning so they aren't as bad and they usually only last about a month at most. BTW this is how the gym makes it's money so the rest of us who go regularly can pay discounted fees

That bothers me too but I have to remember that they also pay money for their membership which entitles them to use that equipment so I never say anything to them, I just warm up on the reclining bike giving them the evil eye while waiting for them to finish:evil::laugh:

that pretty much sums it up.

id like to put special emphasis on the retards doing 85 and 95 pound barbell curls by swinging their whole body. it just makes me laugh because their biceps would be getting more gain with a 55 or 65 pound bar done correctly. oh and also, if you sign up the elliptical/treadmill from 7.15-7.30, at 7.30 sharp I want your ass off that machine.
