Annoying Situation

Lately my computer has been beeping around 5 AM every morning, which results in waking me up. The computer is turned off so I don't understand why it would be beeping.. it's almost like an alarm clock but I don't have any alarm programs... I'm really stumped about why it is beeping and why it's only beeping around this time.. at least this is the only time I noticed.

It beeps in a series of around 5 beeps I believe then it stops for like 30 seconds or more(not quite sure, too tired to take a mental note) then repeats. I just end up flipping the main power switch on the back/power supply so I can go back to bed.

I'm going to test a few things.. and see if the problem persists but if any of you know what it most likely is, any help would be greatly appreciated.

And I reiterate that the computer is powered off.. not on stand by.. not hibernating.. but completely turned off.

Thank you.

Look in the BIOS make sure you don't have it set to wake at a certain time or wake on LAN.

Your computer is angry at you for turning it off. It's trying to get revenge on you by depriving you of sleep.

It's a very common occurrence. Try keeping the pc on 24-7. May I recommend using it as a file/web-server?

you have one of those multipliers to attach multiple devices to the grid right?
most computers have it, as you have to hook up at least 2 power cords (pc + monitor).
Just switch that off.

Anyway the beep is a bios beep, so you should check your bios settings.

Check your motherboard manual just for kicks, maybe there's some weird beep code that can occur when it's off, like voltage issue or something. Never heard of that though... but worth checking I suppose.

I'd also check the bios is there's any kind of alarm feature turned on, but if you never turned it on, then I can't see why it would be that.

Also for kicks, try turning off wake on lan and see what happens.
