Water does 22% less damage than Nature, but it has 40% more range.
Question is, does that balance out?

The fact of this game is that the damage the "invaders" can take grows at a rate that is faster than the rate at which the money they yeild upon being defeated.
Maybe if you earned an extra citizen for every $5k you got or something...
This is fun, but I wish there were an actual way to get past the low seventies and have a chance all the way through infinite.

I'm trying to figure out what the best strategy is.... I wish they would post each of the tower stats and upgrade costs before the game starts so I could figure out what is most cost effective.

I don't understand why you'd build anything but water and lightning towers... The leaf and the fire ones aren't as cost effective, especially when you upgrade.

The problem, as already stated, is that the strength of the enemies goes like (1.25)^n wheras your money only increases by 2n where n is the wave. That's why so long as you start out okay, the early levels like ~20 are really simple to beat as 2n > 1.25^n for small n. But as n gets large, 1.25^n is much bigger and there's not much you can do about it.
The early levels seem to have the enemy strength at around 4. By level 70 the enemy strength is 4*(1.25)^70 ~ 24 million.
Each nature tower shoots 9000. Thus each enemy needs 2700 shots to kill it. If you have 9 nature towers they each need to shoot 300 shots to kill the enemy. Seems close I guess.
