Another Biostar M7NCG 400 Question

Anyone have any real world expeience with the Biostar M7NCG 400 MB? Built the system, have 512MB. It ran fine during the initial setup and software installation. Later, system started to spontaneously reboot. No indications as to why. Burning in with Sandra and similar utilities do not expose the problem.

M7NCG 400, 512MB PC2700, AMD Athlon XP 2000+, nVidia chipset, WD HD, Windows XP Professional.

Bought one 2 weeks ago to go with my mobile 2600+ and Antec Aria case and it's been working great. It sounds like a heat or power supply issue for you... are you using a mATX case and power supply? Try running Prime95 torture test and see if you can reproduce the reboot problem, in my experience that has been the most reliable stability test - it's weeded out weak power supply problems for me before.

I have one with a Mobile 2500+ OC'd to 2.5ghz. No problems here for the most part.

I had reboot/shutdown problems when my power supply crapped out about 4 months ago.

If you an borrow one from someone, give it a try.

Also try running http://www.memtest.org/ and see if that shows any errors.

Several of these w/same specs as yours all w/Antec 300 or 350 watt PS. Win 2k SP4 and XP SP1/OS- Athlons 2k-Barton 2.5k- all have Maxtor ATA 133, 7200 rpm drives. None have problems to date(roughly 12 mos/ longest in use) but I tend to agree that it's heat or power related. What PS are you using and spec. Should be at least a 300 watt or higher depending on devices in operation.
Try swapping out the PS, make sure all the obvious really is...physical connections etc.

wow, sounds great! my FAR soyo just crapped out on me so i ordered a biostar refurb. what is a good h/s that would fit in that combo? soyo was very picky about h/s, i am using some middle of the road thermaltake stuff
