Received a card in the mail from BlockBuster today (12/30): "You have not yet returned the movie due 12/13. If you do not return it, the new replacement cost will automatically be charged to your credit card."
I was pretty sure I had returned it, but went right over at lunch time to talk to them in person. ( A few months ago they told me I had not returned another movie. Turns out it had fallen between the return box and the wall -- something they said had happened before.) When I get there, they type the information into the computer and say, "Never mind, our computer crashed and we lost all records of returns for that 3 day period. We'll fix your account right now!" I am really pissed at BlockBuster, but didn't take it out on the poor stiffs working there. But my 2 big complaints are:
1) if the movie was due 12/13, why didn't they call rather than mail a card? Trying to run up the fine?
2) if I hadn't gone in and talked to them, would I have been automatically charged the replacement cost as the card threatened? (laughs on them, I changed all my CC #'s recently!)
