I'm not sure belts would have helped the back seat passengers. I think they were probably fucked regardless.
Then the only solution is to ban cars.no use in pushing blame anymore. people will continue to die in car accidents.
You have no understanding of the forces involved in car crashes. My son went sideways into a turn and hit an incoming SUV. The car ended up in 2 pieces.
Simple physic.
am i the only one who thought the pictures of the 4 kids who died looked like 1 or 2 different people, just at different angles?
Pains me to hell to read this, because OH YEAH he can.
I had use of a few cars during my teen years. One had a top speed of around 80 with a tail wind and I had that thing squeeling around corners so many times...A powerful car is going to amplify problems (and one of the ones I had access to was powerful, one night came very, very close to killing myself and my buddy), but even a slow car behind the wheels of a kid can bring out the worst in them.
sad story, and i bet the driver is going to have a tough time dealing with the fact that he killed 4 of his friends, and he has to live with that for the rest of his life.

Please tell me he made it.
:'(
I see the parents of those dead teens suing the stupid parents of this kid. ^_^
What's with the hobo looking guy in the firetruck in the second pic?
If your interested here's one of those hunks of steel vs a modern car. The results maybe surprising. Not that it would have helps in this case.
59 bel air vs 09 Malibu
That said about 1 person dies on Ontario roads per day on average. You don't see it often in the city because traffic moves slower. We had about four or five deaths over the long weekend though. One was a horrific head on involving a drunk driver who was driving the wrong way on the highway.
Yes, he did. He ended up with a concussion at the hospital. The incoming SUV hit the car inches behind the driver seat and ripped the car in two. It was a miracle he lived.
His seat belt saved him and he made the news.

He is happily married now with 2 kids and studying a new trade in the air force. It's been almost 10 years already and I think about this event every time I go around that curve.
On the other hand, my brother hit a moose with his motorcycle and was not so lucky in the early 80s. it took me years to get over that.
