I heard all the rave about "Chipotle!" for a couple of years, so when one opened near us, I had to try it.
I was sorely disappointed. It's "Mexican food" only because they wrap the contents in a burrito. Bland, flavorless, and one of the worst fast-food-type meals I've had in decades.

I never went back.
Unfortunately, Qdoba seems to have followed the same business model, offering about the same bland, tasteless "imitation Mexican food" as Chipotle.

I was totally going to thumbs up you until you insulted Qdoba Now you're dead to me!

But in all seriousness, I love Qdoba's queso

Imitation mexican food? Doesit it have to be authentic? Were you expecting a blazong hot plate of melted cheese goo smothering mystery meat enchilada's? Do you even know what authentic mexican food is?
Chipolte has never made the claim of being "authentic"

Cereal! a burrito is about mexican as General Tso's chicken, crab rangoon, and fortune cookies are chinese! Authentic mexican cuisine doesn't offer lettuce in their burritos! Actually, they don't have burritos.

I like Chipotle. And for all those posters that complain about how unhealthy it is, tell the fastfood worker not to put the items you object to in your food.

Chipotle does seem pretty bland compared to pancheros or qdoba, their filler contents seem too dry even with salsa and cheese added. The rice with cilinatro is as plain tasting as can be, and their tortillas are always dry. The qdoba ones are at least steam heated, so they are soft and moist. Why is it that none of these fast food mexican places believe in using mexican seasoning in their products?

I like Chipotle. Their guacamole is delicious and all of their ingredients seem pretty fresh. I get a bowl with white rice, black beans, double steak, hot salsa, cheese, and guacamole. That's 980 calories on their calculator. 790 calories if you get single steak. Very filling and tasty. I could probably cut out the cheese without noticing much difference, to save 100 calories and about half the saturated fat.

Chipotle is ok. Since we have plenty of good Mexican mom & pop places around here, I hardly ever eat at them.

What this city really lacks is good bbq

Never eaten at one. I know the owners of most the places I eat around here. So I rarely eat chain food. Where I have no idea who the franchise owners are. I am studiously avoiding the whole local place is better argument.

I didn't like it too much but it's better than Taco Bell?

My favorite Mexican place in CT is Sierra Grille (Norwalk/Stamford).

i would say that since chipotle is very proactive (extremely picky) in how the meat they serve is raised I would say yes. who knows what chinese slaughter house the beef in your taco bell burrito came from.

Burritos are not necessarily unhealthy.

All authentic Mexican food is unhealthy. It is made of the lowest quality meats you can find with the highest fat content to make it taste edible. Same as in most other poor countries.

The fact that every Mexican dish can be put into a tortilla and still be considered a good meal is just a testament to how awesome Mexican food actually is.

Don't understand the big deal about food being or not being authentic. If it tastes good, I'll eat it. End of story. Who the f_ cares if it comes from a long line of Mexican/Chinese/Italian/whatever secret family heritage recipes.

Pancheros is awesome, but I've never seen one outside Michigan.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's wide variation in the quality of Chipotle across the country. I remember I thought it sucked when I lived in Michigan, but the one near where I live in California is pretty awesome. I think they try to use local ingredients when possible, so maybe certain Chipotles only have access to crappy ingredients?

or it's the past tense of spell...

spelled.

just because the illiterate masses add "t"s to every word because they think it is proper, and it thus becomes generally acceptable amongst the illiterate, doesn't really make it proper.

Holy shit, I never expected anyone to mention Pancheros.. Its definitely not very widespread, I hadn't heard of them until I started working in Iowa. I definitely prefer Pancheros over Chipotle any day of the week

Didn't the whole of Iowa use to only have a single Chipotle (in Valley West Mall)?
I know they opened one up in Ames a little after I left in 2012, not sure where else though.

Holy crap, I couldn't even tell if he was swallowing his food! lol.

I have a coworker who eats like that. It's very annoying b/c when he gets his food, like a chicken sandwich or something, he eats like he hasn't eaten in 3 days. I can barely get 2 bites in before he's half way done with his meal. He eats like that guy in the video, taking 3-4 big bites before putting down the food.

The two Chipotle's that I frequent in my area have always been quite good. It's definitely better than McD's, Subway's rubberized bread or some other crap like that!

I don't claim it to be "the best" but a bowl with double veggies with any of the meats, black beans and salsa of choice is a pretty decent meal. If I feel the "need" I'll add guac. I do like it better than McD's most days. The near by subway has given me cold meatball subs 3-4 times etc. I prefer to eat at places like Luke's or Avanti down in the loop but Qdoba and Chipotle add in some variety.

I know there's one in Iowa City now (right across from Pancheros) and one is opening in Cedar Rapids (also right across from Pancheros).. I think the whole state is up to like 6 maybe, but none of them do well because Pancheros is so popular
