The State Law Enforcement Division said in a news release that 31-year-old Sean Groubert was charged Wednesday with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Everyone should fear being stopped by the police. Especially if you are black. If you watch that video, you can see the third shot was blatantly done while the guys hands were both held high up. That is the shot that will get this officer in the most trouble. Either way, perhaps this is a new way to get people to buckle their seat belts. Buckle up or get shot. Not as good as Click it or Ticket.
I don't know if it's a training or screening problem, it does appear that some police have become ultra sensitive to the possibility a person is armed and fail to properly assess the situation before taking unwarranted actions.
I'm suspect that based on the evidence this officer will be convicted of aggravated assault & battery and sentenced to some prison time.
It has everything to do with skin color.
Notice how many shots were fired point blank and how he only hit the guy once in the hip. Pistols suck, even with a trained man using it. Also, I would have shot the guy as well. He dove back into the car quickly. I'd assume he was going for a gun for sure.

You can see where the driver realizes he doesn't have his wallet in his pocket and then he goes to the car to get it.
The Cop gave the driver clear instructions for license and registration. You have to assume he is going to reach into the car again to get this. To immediatelly escalate the situation to lethal force shows a lack of training on the Cops part or just shear incompetence. If the Cop didn't want him moving back to the car like this he needed to control the situation better and give the driver better instructions. The driver is lucky he is alive. Even after the driver raises his hands up after the first couple of shots the Cop keeps shooting at him.
I'm suspect that based on the relationship between the PD and the DA that this officer will be convicted of anything.

Sounds like its not going to go well for this cop.
If you watch the video, you see the cop fire 2 more times even after the guy drops what is in his hands and turns around with his hands up.
Thank god this guy was a bad shot otherwise this kid would obviously be dead.
