Cop did not say, where is your ID, wait for response and say slowly enter your car and retrieve it.

"dive, furtive movements, quickly jumped" call it what you want but he had erratic movements. Cops are trained to be extremely cautious over movements just like what this guy was doing - especially the little pause like he's trying to decide what to do before diving into the truck.


This is why you should never make erratic movements around a cop. It's common knowledge.

You're right. He should have been taught that lesson in school, that cops are prone to erratic behaviour and violent outbursts, and should be treated with caution. The same way you would act around an unfamiliar dog. We teach kids to be careful around strange animals, why not teach them to also be careful around the police?

His "mistake" was an attempt to comply with the officer's request for his license. Obviously, Jones never read the SpatiallyAware Handbook on how to avoid being shot while complying with a LE officer's request. Since I'm not aware that's required reading, Jones has no culpability here.

OTOH, I would think that LE officers are trained in how to contain a situation without firing at an unarmed person who is in the surrender position. But given recent events, perhaps I'm mistaken.
