Absolutely right. You can't charge paypal fees in the auction. Ebay cancels auctions based on this if they find this in your auction.

This is like having merchants charge the customer's credit card fees for the convenience of using credit cards. Both ebay and I think paypal prohibit this.

I just noticed the phone says up to 200h talk time! I want a phone that can go up to 200h.
" The seller, babylone, assumes full responsibility for the content of this listing and the item offered."

I wonder what happens if he gets phone, and it doesn't even get close to 200h of talk time....

thats the problem with many ebay sellers. they think there a doing the world a service by selling stuff online. what they fail to realize is that they are just like any other brick and mortar business that try to get good customer service and try everything to please the customer. imagine going to wal-mart and an employee gave you that attitude...

what the seller did is basically the same thing if you were to go to a grocery store and there is a sign at the entrance saying, "if you plan to pay by credit card, then be prepared to pay our credit card fees." sure it's convenient to the buyers to use paypal, but sellers must be fvcking dumbasses to not realize that paypal benefits them as well. many people will buy from them just because they are able to use paypal. if i were to go on ebay and i see 5 auctions selling the same thing at the same price, but only one of them accepts paypal, i would most likely go to the seller offering paypal (all else being equal). that reason is the main reason why MOST business accept cc's, despite the cc fees. the profit from accepting cc's with the cc fees far outweigh the business not received from not accepting cc's. if you dont agree with this, then ask yourself how many times have you passed up going to a restaurant because they did not accept cc's, and that was your only form of payment.

i am not going to jump on the bandwagon by calling the seller a dumbass or anything, but the seller should really consider having better customer service in the future when making a transaction on ebay. i sure as hell would not return to any business that gave me the attitude that the OP did, even if i was wrong.

Although I do agree with Fact is ebay isn't very customer service based. The point of ebay is low prices and low overhead. With very little perception of customer service and very little repeat buyers with most items going completely based on price and a "risk factor".

In fact, if you bend over backwards in the name of customer service you're wasting time and effort. Other things you sacrifice are support and also return policies.

Let me put it this way: would you shop at walmart if they had the worst customer service ever but products were consistently 50.00 below competition? I sure as hell would..

I hope you being made fun of, getting negative feedback, likely having your accounts locked, and most importantly losing your sale was worth the $6.07.

Maybe you should realize that services like paypal and ebay thrive on the fact that if everyone follows their rules, things will be the most fair, and there are MILLIONS of other people that can follow the rules.

If you aren't happy with the rules or don't like that you can't pick and choose which ones to follow, then don't use the service. The cost of having the world as your marketplace to sell your phone is the fact that you might have to take a small hit on paypal fees. Suck it up andget over it.

I'm not sure how much paypal charges, but I think it's like 3 bucks then 3% for items over $50 or something... meaning you already made $100 or so. You probably would not have been able to sell the phone if it wasn't for these services. Suck it up and shut up.

Pointing out people's stupidity is one thing, being an ass is different. That's just not cool.

Your a dumbass, If your going to charge paypal fees why dont you also charge ebay fees, or have the guy pay your taxes? If you want to include misc fees like that then do it in the Handling portion of shipping and handling.

LOL! Best post ever. I can't stand people who charge Paypal fees. That's as lame as a department store charging you a credit card processing fee. How do you get around it? Embed it in your Buy It Now price or consider it the cost of doing business. What's next? Charging people your ebay listing fees? Lame. Get off ebay. Get off the internet.

save yourself alot of hassles; just charge enough when you list the damn items so you dont have to fret about the lousy dollar or 2 in fees when you sell it...
avoids pissing off your customers, since the never really see the "fees" you are charging...or charge more for shipping, so you accomplish the same end...

OOPS, I see the fool has already left the forum...sorry about the late reply folks..

it's like a business taking a credit card....they eat the fee vs. taking cash.

the only business that this worked with was gas stations and we are seeing less and less of them. (gas vs. credit prices)

it's obvious she has visited AT since she posted this and probably has read over this thread.

Now after seeing the replies, she's never going to post again.

There was some software case where some company bought some software from another company, but it had a rediculus ToS that the buyer just ignored. So the seller took them to court and it got thrown out immediately. Then the buyer bought more stuff under the same ToS and the seller tries to sue them again and they still lost. That pissed off a lot of software companies.... but it should teach people who think of doing that kind of stuff a lesson: don't be dumbasses and break rules.
