Woah, 160mph winds, if this makes a direct hit we are in some trouble.
All of us in South Florida may have to evacuate.

No. As someone else said, they seem to go in 20 year cycles. We're on the upswing the last couple of years.

What I don't understand is why the fvck do these hurricanes keep turning into Florida.
WTF man, its like theres a slope in the ocean that keeps directing all the hurricanes to Florida.

Unfortunately, because of charlie and francis gas supplies are low so you could run for about 1tank of gas at worst.

if you think Florida is being hit hard this year, realize what has been happening to Japan so far this year. A record 7 typhoons have made landfall thus far. The last one, Songda, having winds of 135mph+. Of course their infrastructure is built to withstand typhoons better....at least when compared to all the trailer homes in Florida that was carried away by the storms.

A few years ago a storm rolled up the Conn river are decimated Bradley Airport and hurt Springfield.

I lived in the Boston area in the early 70's when a storm nailed NY and NE.

Tease the dog and it will bite.

WTF man, its like theres a slope in the ocean that keeps directing all the hurricanes to Florida.

The trade winds drive them from Africa across the S Alantic. Then the gulf stream directs them into the carribean. After that where they wxit the Caribean is dependent on the local jet stream.

think of it as a interstae highway of 3000 miles with no exits (just emergency pull offs). The exists all are once they hit the Eastern Carribean. Then there aer 4 main choices.

1) North toward Bermuda and out to sea.
2) North into the Bahamas (Frances)
3) North West into the Gulf
4) West toward Mexico.

Could be difficult. Frances did not help the road situation from Melborn to Tampa.

Turnpike, I75 & I95 picked up a lot of debris.

Ivan the Terrible

Just got back from a week in the mountains and my house took Frances like a trooper, no damage or flooding. We even have power despite half the neighborhood being without. If Ivan follows Charlie's path but is stronger I'm heading to my bro's place in St. Louis till things settle down. I was 90 minutes north of Hotlanta in Blue Ridge and Frances even whacked them hard, 250,000 without power and flooding problems.

On I-16 yesterday I passed convoys of power company trucks heading west to help out. On I-95 I trailed at least 100 Louisiana and Arkansas Power trucks coming to help here in central/south Florida. Some of them may have to turn around and head straight back if Ivan heads alittle further west and hits near Louisiana. It seems more probable south florida is doomed more than ever though Global warming to blame? Just a natural cycle that pre-dates our historic records? I've enjoyed 38yrs of not being slammed by hurricanes stronger than cat1, It would seem nature is making up for lost time in a very efficent manner this year. The timebomb is ticking for those of us here in Florida again :clock: Wish us well and stop bashing us for living here please! :disgust: These are real people suffering, have a little compassion, or are some you completely heartless?

Sarcasm meter is off (I hope)

No fun/challenge - when weather is consistant.

Out here 100/75
Only difference is that the highs get higher in summer 110 and lower in the winter 80.

Delta stays the same.

Sunny 330+ days per year.

Did some forcasting in college - much more challenging.
