Sheesh I still dont understand the amazing desire to have one of these chips. Although I do have to admit that I am quite impressed with my k63-450.

Now, I dont know how well these overclock, but the 450s are in stock for that purpose I suppose.

You must tell the customer service rep that you were told by "another rep" that these were in stock. I picked one up and it showed up today, when I tried to order another they kinda gave me the run-around. I think that they dont really want to sell these for some reason...

at any rate, with enough effort, you might be able to talk them out of one of these chips...

Damn. I got a K6-3+ from them just last week for $49.99.... Of course, it's currently running @ 550 with no problems. Next step 600 or 112 Mhz bus!

This is an amazing step-up if your motherboard can handle it.

I just ordered one Sat. night, should go out this morning. Total cost was 67 something w/shipping, but i'm in Alaska so everything's more. Cust. Service wasn't too bad actually. I was dinging them about haveing a 500 in there, gave them the part # and "refered by" routine. Still said had none, ha-ha, even went to ask his manager if they had some sittin somewere. Ended up w/the 450+, Wich is what i was lookin for in the first place. Should get it by thurs.

If you need a mainboard, one of the better deals is the Tyan 1598 1MB cache ATX for $65 at Buy.com. Get your total to either $75 and use a $10 coupon, or $100 and use a $20 coupon. Either way this is one of the better deals for a mainboard that properly supports the + chips. Techbargains has the coupons. If you have a little more money to spend, go the Duron and new mainboard route.

Hey fermunda, glad to see another "ALASKAN" using this forum.
I read over at TOM's hardware that the 500's werement only for system builders and not really ment for the retail market. By the way they have a new K6 article, and they bench the K6III+

welp, I finally got mine going on an Azza ? motherboard...the PT-5VDMD....

this thing has full support out of the box for the K6+ chips...it also does very well on the benches...

This K6-3 probably wont be around for long.
