Another caravan of migrants is heading north from Honduras towards Mexico and The US of A. The caravan has grown from about 1,500 to now about 3,000 people. If and when it gets to the US border there is no telling how large it will be.
The President has threatened to stop the migrant's entry into the US as well as cutting aid to Honduras (as well as other countries) if they do not start controlling their borders and stopping the migration. In response, the president of Honduras has voiced his disappointment with the lack of aid and investment in his country. In the article above notes that the organizer of the caravan has been detained because he did not comply with Guatemalan immigration rules” and would be deported back to Honduras in the coming hours. President Trumps threats seem to have hit a nerve. Will it stop the migration and illegal migrant entry into the US ... probably not.
The article provides a quote from the organizer of the caravan: “What Trump says doesn’t interest us. These people are fleeing. These people are not tourists.” Does this not sound like an entitlement statement? Whether you love/hate Trump, the country has immigration laws and the entry of a person into the country without a valid Visa is illegal.

That's just aside from the fact that in the scenario you describe, conservatives would then say, "obviously they're not genuine asylum seekers, they're just trying to milk the system: you can tell by the fact that they left their kids in the situation they're supposedly fleeing, no decent human being would do that!".
They are not our responsibility. Period.
