Maybe not use U.S. troops to prevent the migrants from seeking asylum in the first place? After all, the migrants do have to enter U.S. soil in the first place to petition for asylum, which Trump says the troops are there to prevent.....the migrants from crossing into U.S. territory.

We should all remember that federal troops are explicitly barred from engaging in ANY law enforcement functions. Any at all.
They will be file clerks and motor pool people. It’s a colossal waste of money.
