Really, now how exactly do we ruin these countries besides heavily supporting them by sending hundreds of millions of dollars, importing their produce/farming, and buying their oil? Please do tell.
We import no significant amount oil from Honduras, El Salvador, or Guatemala. If we were not sending foreign aid this situation would be markedly worse than it is now which I'm sure people have trouble comprehending. If you really want to get into the history of how the US has abused basically everybody to the south of us over the last century and a half we can go all the way back to the Monroe doctrine if you want. We've stolen land, propped up murderous dictators, funded and fomented rebellion, gone to war and killed people for corporate interests, stifled political dissent, etc for many many decades. There is probably nowhere on earth that we've interfered with more.
Oh Its because our stupid citizens also buy drugs from cartels present in those countries huh? Yeah, guess it's our own damn fault.
Actually yes along with a half century of violent, misguided government drug policy. The drug war and our actions in it have crippled those countries economically and from a safety standpoint.
In fact, probably what we do the worst to hurt these countries is that we import their A+ most valuable citizens legally, leaving them the table scraps as far as labor value.
This doesn't even make any sense when the nations, are for practical purposes, somewhat or nearly lawless because of induced violence.
