Probably from an earlier promotion before the price drop, but I wouldn't let that stop you.

I think any advantage the 4870 had over the 260 is now gone.

And?? Did it actually help much to begin with?
The 4870 still performs better from most reviews I've seen (disregarding OCing of BOTH cards since that is YMMV) so it still has one advantage.
If your talking about the driverheaven review I wouldn't exactly say its "proven." Overall I saw the cards trading victories and only by a couple FPS either way (excluding Lost Planet where the HD4870 got crushed although supposedly that was fixed in the new 8.7s) well within the margin of error when you consider that they use the [ H ] method of "real world benchmarks." Overall the HD4870 and GTX 260 are the most evenly matched cards we've seen in a long time, they perform near identically and each have their own (counterbalancing) advantages, the H4870 has HDMI and scales incredibly well with AA and the GTX 260 has PhysX, overclocks very nicely and has better board partners. For my money unless one of those advantages is a big deal to you the best bet is to get whichever card is cheaper when you buy. For me that was the HD4870 and for someone else it may be the GTX 260 (the deal in the OP is incredible) can we quit trying to crown a winner, declare this round a tie and thank god for having two competitive companies again and these wonderful price wars.Originally posted by: Cookie Monster
Actually the GTX260 is proven to provide a higher min fps than the HD4870 so thats another plus.
