"You" In that line was meant in general, not specifically you as person.
I indeed detest the stance of the Catholic church on a lot of things (Condoms baaad! Let all those people in Africa die, they don't pay us money anyway!)(Another priest raping some choirboys? Oh, just switch him with the one from that other place, they like a change once in a while!)
The way the Catholic church was set up to begin with is "We do not really want to abandon all the old religions but we want to introduce this new one, so let's instead mix it so we can continue acting the same!"... Where in the Bible do you find 'worshipping' of saints? That's come in the place of worshipping a different god for everything. Absolute ruler like the emperor, who was closest to the gods? Let's make up this 'Pope' thingie, and let's say he's the temporary replacement of Jesus on earth or something. And so on...
They edited enough in the Bible to make it suit them more, any evidence on the contrary (or any person saying it) would vanish, etc.
More than half of what they preach does not come from the Bible, but from other religions or cultures, or just from their lust and greed.
Would you like to provide anything to back up your claims?
1: The Catholic church was not set up as you say. It began when Jesus was still on earth...the Apostle Peter was the first pope. "Upon this rock I build My Church", to quote Jesus.
2: Where in Catholicism do you find worshipping of saints? Believe it or not, you don't.
3: "Make up" this "pope thingie"? Refer to #1.
4: Edited the Bible..that's interesting. Who then has the unedited Bible? Certainly not the protestants, who REMOVED SEVERAL ENTIRE BOOKS, as well as some chapters from Daniel. It is actually the protestants who are using an edited Bible..
5: Sounds like you are mindlessly bashing Catholicism, without fully understanding it. Much of what Catholicism teaches is based on tradition. The Bible itself says to hold fast to the traditions from your forefathers.
If you are a sola scriptura person (by scripture alone), the Bible itself says that the pillar of truth is the Church...not the Bible. Which Church? There is only one church that can trace a direct lineage from Peter. Also, the fact that there are over 30,000 protestant demoninations (and of course, they don't agree with each other) says something, does it not?
Sorry to go off topic, but mindless Catholic-bashing really annoys me. And yes...I *was* strongly anti-Catholic for quite a long time. Not anymore.
