Ah well, when brought to court the cop can always claim Catholicism.

Uhm... Insanity I mean.

i have a very strong feeling that some catholic person picked on you as a child. Where you beaten up often by father O'Maily?

I hate stupidity, and if you insist on believing in the Bible as being the truth Catholicism becomes an even bigger farce than it already is. If the God from the Bible indeed exists not a single practicing Catholic will make it to heaven. (Actually, that might be a reason for someone to want that God to exist)

I never said i was catholic, i'm not. You're deep hatred of the religion is disturbing, though.

BTW, i woudl NEVER start trouble with a cop while handcuffed just because i know what owuld probably happen. I assume everyone is a psycho and function accordingly. It keeps me out of trouble.

Damn, I hope idiots like this meet a freaked out cop who beats them into the hospital. I'd say to death, but then they wouldn't suffer that long.

"You" In that line was meant in general, not specifically you as person.

I indeed detest the stance of the Catholic church on a lot of things (Condoms baaad! Let all those people in Africa die, they don't pay us money anyway!)(Another priest raping some choirboys? Oh, just switch him with the one from that other place, they like a change once in a while!)

The way the Catholic church was set up to begin with is "We do not really want to abandon all the old religions but we want to introduce this new one, so let's instead mix it so we can continue acting the same!"... Where in the Bible do you find 'worshipping' of saints? That's come in the place of worshipping a different god for everything. Absolute ruler like the emperor, who was closest to the gods? Let's make up this 'Pope' thingie, and let's say he's the temporary replacement of Jesus on earth or something. And so on...
They edited enough in the Bible to make it suit them more, any evidence on the contrary (or any person saying it) would vanish, etc.
More than half of what they preach does not come from the Bible, but from other religions or cultures, or just from their lust and greed.

EXACTLY!!! She was wrong so she should have respected the authority and shut the hell up. If she has problems with how things were handled, deal with it in court.

And to those that tout that the police should be held to a higher standard and stuff... yes, I agree. By the same token, people they stop for speeding should not pull guns out and shoot the cops either, nor try to back into the cops with their cars, or drive 100 mph on city streets, or plow through a school yard in a SUV, or rob a Taco Bell and rape the employees, or lure teenagers into their homes to cut them up and stuff them into ZipLock bags.... You get the idea.

For some reason, I thought this was going to be a thread about another police brutality case in Iceland. I should quit thinking.

I do not suggest they be held to a higher standard rather they be held to the same standard as any other citizen when it comes to the law. The law does not allow them to beat some sense into someone any more than it allows you and I to beat some sense into someone. The advice you gave regarding allowing her dealing with it in court is exactly what the officer should have done as well.

Would you like to provide anything to back up your claims?

1: The Catholic church was not set up as you say. It began when Jesus was still on earth...the Apostle Peter was the first pope. "Upon this rock I build My Church", to quote Jesus.
2: Where in Catholicism do you find worshipping of saints? Believe it or not, you don't.
3: "Make up" this "pope thingie"? Refer to #1.
4: Edited the Bible..that's interesting. Who then has the unedited Bible? Certainly not the protestants, who REMOVED SEVERAL ENTIRE BOOKS, as well as some chapters from Daniel. It is actually the protestants who are using an edited Bible..
5: Sounds like you are mindlessly bashing Catholicism, without fully understanding it. Much of what Catholicism teaches is based on tradition. The Bible itself says to hold fast to the traditions from your forefathers.

If you are a sola scriptura person (by scripture alone), the Bible itself says that the pillar of truth is the Church...not the Bible. Which Church? There is only one church that can trace a direct lineage from Peter. Also, the fact that there are over 30,000 protestant demoninations (and of course, they don't agree with each other) says something, does it not?

Sorry to go off topic, but mindless Catholic-bashing really annoys me. And yes...I *was* strongly anti-Catholic for quite a long time. Not anymore.

What in the HELL does this have to do with this case? OK, there are criminals in the world, and being a policeman is a tough job - point taken. How does that have anything to do with justifying a policeman beating up a handcuffed teenage girl? How do you think a policeman who cannot handle being yelled at by a subdued teenager will handle a truly dangerous situation?

um, dude those are cases where someone could get killed. a 15 year old girl hand cuffed to somthing isn't guna kill no one. if she did something bad the courts should handle it. thats what their there for. if they wanted they could have got her for harasment of a police officer but once they took the law into thier own hands they crossed the line. they tried to take the courts responsibility into their own hands. now they are the ones needing a lawer and she is the one that will be getting a nice sum of cash. by them doing that they showed her that if people dont like the way she talks all they can do is hit her and then she gets money.

(this is how i think about people that might want to beat me up. as long as i will recover and get a nice sum out of it im not scared of them. and lots of times i tell them this and tekk them that they better like some time in jail and they back off. sad but truely how i view bad situations. [i wiegh about 116 pounds so fighting back isn't usualy an option])

By law all questioning should have ended when she asked for a lawyer. Period. If I was being questioned and even being uncooperative I have the right to remain silent and I have the right to have an attorney present during questioning. These are constitutionaly guaranteed rights that some of you think should be tossed out because she was "talking back".

1. Churches weren't set up like that, but where do you find all people being equal back in the current setup of the Catholic church, let alone the setup from 1000 years ago or more?
2. They don't call it worshipping. There is a difference between not doing it and giving it a different name.
3. See 1. The Pope is human, and a senile old man for that. Yet his deranged ideas are what the Catholics have to follow?
4. Oh, lets try and presume he is a protestant and attack them! Too bad for you I'm an agnost. Protestants don't follow the bible either, but at least they didn't need crap like saints and a pope.
5. So it doesn't matter if traditions conflict with the book itself? "Oh, we traditionally raped choirboys, lets continue!"

And if you do not believe the Bible to be the truth that quickly changes. The Bible was written by men, and severely flawed even if you would look at it as a holy book.

Why did you start believing again? Couldn't go without a religion?

they would have to provoke the cop for it to be equitable. it's not like this cop just randomly beat her.

does anyone ever give a crap that these people should be in the situation in the first place?

Im not gonna get my ass kicked by a cop, b/c i wont/dont break the law. And if i did, i'd keep my mouth shut and do what they say. Then if things got hairy, say something when i am released

Actually, a biased anti-catholic didn't understand that his views were flawed..but whatever.
