According to Kingston's datasheets (pfd), the rated voltage is 2.5 +- 0.2. I'm rather surprised that it couldn't handle 2.8V, but some memory just doesn't like high voltages (I believe OCZ's Winbond chips is one of them? - correct me if I'm wrong here, but they work best at 2.7V).

I have to agree with Su1c1da1's recommendation to not exceed running these beyond 2.7v although the review linked in my first post reported them running the PC3500 chips up to 3.0v without problems. I'm surprised that yours burnt at 2.8, even though it's beyond the max in Kingston's spec.

I'm curious if you can verify the actual voltage going to the chips, I'm pretty skeptical of BIOS and MBM readings especially since I just replaced a PSU partially because of +12v readings of 11.5-11.6v. The new supply showed the same readings which had me a little worried, but then I checked the lines with a multimeter and found it was actually at 11.95v.

Just ordered a stick of 512mb PC3000. Figure worse comes to worse, put it in my parents sytem with 512mb of PC2700 Sammy.

I bought from Googlegear. better all around service and with $1 2nd day shipping just as cheap if you like fast shipping. I should get mine Thursday or Friday latest.

I ordered mine from excaliber monday morning using the cheapest ground shipping and got it tuesday morning.

they made my situation better now. The CC prob is still there I think but Arthur the Operator is still working on it.

I think excaliberpc is just ramping up their site and service but it looks like these guys want to be a player. watch out NewEgg.com!

I bought the Hyper-x from frys last friday night (2 sticks of 256) I have an AOpen AK77-333 mobo after i put it in I started to have trouble
with my tv tuner card the picture on the tv screen would just freeze up the audio would still be playing but the picture wouldnt
so i just returned it

depends, if you are overclocking get pc3000, if not get pc2100. its not complicated.

I don't have a board to test it in yet (they sold out of the NF7-S v1.2 before I got my order in)
but according to a couple posts I've seen here and there they've done ok.

You asked me about the HyperX memory I got it stable at its rated speed at 2cl. 185mhz FSB but have not tried more yet But it seems it will go some higher I'm guessing 192ish if not 200FSB @ 2.5 only drawback is the Ram likes LOW voltage I have it .10 higher than They recommend voltage at 2.8 volts other than that I am very Happy with the ram. I run on an Ali magik chipset (XP333-R) so my memory timings are not numerical or I'd tell you what they are. But 2cl @ 185 FSB is a good price at $100 or Less. Googlegear kinda slow though I ordered 2 sticks with in 30 min of each other and they still have not shipped my second stick yet and this was Tuesday 12noon I got my first stick Thursday. Weird
I'm testing the headroom on the ram b4 I put my new 2100 "B" in. So my t-bird is zooming along at ~1.65ghz not bad for a T-turd back in the day that was a phat OC...

TooT TooT the get on board the HyperX Train mine is at 192mhz now no sweat! Glad I didn't pay $100 more for a gig of Corsair!

need to fix my WPcredit registry thingy my memory scores have gone up but still suck but it is the chipset (only bad thing about the Ali magik chipset)
