Russell Walker won the primary in May for NC state house district 48. Now the oopsie part.

North Carolina state House of Representatives candidate who recently won the Republican primary has claimed Jews are satanic, U.S. soldiers are being poisoned by the government and that God is a white supremacist.

Apparently no one thought to go look into some websites tied to the man to see that he held clearly racist views. So the NC GOP has withdrawn their support this week. The people on the other hand... time will tell.

Why? He fits right in. Frankly I think he's a bit soft compared to the leader of the party. Was that why?

I have another view of this: It's good republicans show their true colors. A lot of them are racist as fuck but are private about it. Let them tell us what they really feel.

Ughh, the sad thing is he'd fit right in with the sack of shitburgers currently occupying our state legislature with single-party rule. My state can no longer be classified as a democracy, so all the MAGA klansmen are coming out of woods and joining the state GOP.

I thought we might be able to turn it around when Cooper defeated McCrory, but the state GOP has reduced governor to a figurehead position with no real power, at least while a Democrat is in office. The only thing Cooper and Stein can do is file lawsuits. NC is a pretty good example of where we're headed as a country if conservatives rule the executive via electoral college, win back the legislature with more gerrymandering, and maintain a 6-3 advantage on SCOTUS.

The constitutional amendments gimmick is hilarious, if not sad. The GOP is so concerned about losing seats (and losing veto override power) if Dems turnout for the midterms, they're basically ramming through bogus constitutional amendments that would need to be added to state ballots for approval. Things like "protect North Carolinians' rights to hunting and fishing licenses!" Nobody is coming for their hunting and fishing rights. No one. They want it on the ballot to increase Republican turnout, that's it.

Not to worry, the Party has "officially" withdrawn support, but you can bet the house that they would much rather have a conservative racist win in the general than any 'ol damn immigrant loving Democrat so they will support him every other way they can, which means he'll get the funding he needs, just not up front.

If a person with any platform, ideology, or character peculiarity runs, openly expresses his/her platform, ideology, or character peculiarity and wins his primary, is that not the correct representation for that district?

This all came to pass after the primary. There were already concerns about it but no one in the GOP felt it was enough to withdraw support. As an example when defending the confederate flag last year he said it was about heritage not hate. Of course minutes after he said:

“Hey, I go down the street, I see Martin Luther my excellent compatriot… uh, I shouldn’t have said that… Martin Luther King. I mean…. I mean, should I rip the signs down?”

They knew who he was and what he was about.

Of course, I'm on the edge of my chair going toward November.

The outcome could shape my faith in mankind.

North Carolina is probably a lot more diverse than West Virginia. It's a pretty big sample of the human race. I can't imagine Walker winning the election.

Apparently, neither can the NC GOP.

That's the only thing for which I hope they're right.

But his overt racism has been known for quite some time. They didn't withdraw support then. Only now when it becomes overwhelming do they finally do it when he's now the man on the ballot.

10-4. Don't know the timeline on him at all. I suppose now you'll know what his district is made of.
