Here's CyberpowerPC's description from Pricewatch:
"2048x1536, agp 4x, RADEONTM graphics processing unit . 32mb DDR No HYPER Z"
NO Hyper Z = Radeon LE.
Just look at www.pricewatch.com ---lots of vendors are selling the LE in the $80-90 range. Once you factor in reliability and shipping costs, newegg.com gets the nod.
Hey all I ordered the DDR LE from newegg.com I must say the company is good but the card really sucked. There is NO fan on the card. However, I just called up ATI and said the card sucked, and wasnt working right and they sent me a nice new standard DDR one OVERNIGHT! I just put the LE in and sent it to them. The quality is definitely not up to par on the LE.
There is no way the card sucked and that the one you got now is SO much better. You are making it up, man, they are exactly the same except LE is lower clock speed.
i have to agree as well, there is no way the normal DDR radeon is so much better than the LE, both have been tested already and there was hardly any difference and the LE does have Hyper-Z in Direct3D, just turned off as default, but u can turn it on, so i think what you said was not true, and misleading people.
...but...but...the LE doesn't come with a FAN! How can the LE be fast if it doesn't even have a fan? Riddle me that. Bottom line: Fan = fast, no fan = junk.
j/k of course. I've got one of these LE's and it hauls. I got powerstrip 3.0, enabled my Hyper-Z, and clocked the sucker up to 180....with NO FAN!!! (Probably if I glued a fan onto the front it would make it at least 3x faster. I'll have to do that. )
It has been stated by ATi that the fan is mostly cosmetic (b/c the oTHER cards have them) and not really needed. The design of the board spreads out the heat well enough. Also the lower clock speed makes only a miniscule difference. So you don't need the fan or the clock speed, you might as well save the money. The LE is actually a better choice. (you can overclock it to VE specs w/o a fan if you really must).
