I have a tad over $1000 to spend, and I want to get this baby ordered today. A little background on myself, I am absolutely not a power users. I won't be overclocking. Majority of the time I will spend playing World of Warcraft, Halflife 2, and BF2. Anyone have any opinions on the following?

$349.00* - eVGA 256-P2-N519-AX Geforce 7800GT CO 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail

*Free w/ Video Card Purchase - eVGA 133-K8-NF41 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

$217.00 - AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 1GHz HT Socket 939 Processor - Retail

$89.00 x 2 - CORSAIR XMS 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered System Memory Model CMX1024-3200 - Retail

$91.00 - FSP Group (Fortron Source) AX500-A, 2.0 version, 2 SATA, PCI Express, 500W - Retail

$77.00 - Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600JS 160GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

$49.99 - COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UW Black Aluminum Bezel, SECC Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

Total Shipped: $1009

I am not super sure on the MB, but the deal is sure right. I've considered spending another $90 and buying a Refurbed Asus A8N32-SLI, but I'm not sure it matters since I won't be tweaking, overclocking or any of those goodies. I also have heard some folks say an Opteron would be better than the 3700+. I don't really understand this, as the only one in my price range is like 1.8ghz clock speed. Very curious on opinions on this. My last real question is the memory, though I know that Corsair has a good reputation and I'm sure it will be fine.

Thanks for the help!!

Not a bad system...you could save yourself a few bux and get the ValueSelect 145 vs 180.
since your not overclocking.
Board is questionable but thats your choice combo deal looks pretty good....if you have no plans of going SLI, you could drop that combo deal get a lesser 7800GT and pickup an ASUS A8N-E....for pretty much same price as combo.
Don't try and save money by buyin a refurbed motherboard, more problems than its worth.
Also Opteron is popular for OC'ing

the 7800gt can be had for cheaper, around $250-$280 if you look carefully.as for ram, save yourself some $$, go value, that $$$$$$$$ stuff wont do anything except go down the train if you arent overclocking. valueram will just do u good as the expensive stuff.

I wouldn't get that video card for that price. I do realize that it comes with a free motherboard, but that 7800GT is like $100 more then what others sell at. So you are basically paying for the board anyway. I would just pick up a cheaper 7800GT and then buy a seperate board. There are a number of good boards out there. I would suggest looking at this as a starting point.

Replace the RAM with some Corsair Value Select. That will save you about $38 and will not hurt real-world performance at all. That PSU is a great PSU. However, you could definitely get by with a much lower wattage unit. Going with a Fortron AX450-PN will save about $40 and it is more then enough for your system. Even if you do change your mind about overclocking in the future.

Besides those everything looks good.

I also have heard some folks say an Opteron would be better than the 3700+. I don't really understand this, as the only one in my price range is like 1.8ghz clock speed. Very curious on opinions on this

Stick with the 3700+ since you are not overclocking. It will perform better at stock speeds (2.2GHz vs. 1.8GHz). If you were overclocking the Opteron would be a better choice just because of the fact that they overclock better. It is also slightly cheaper.

My last real question is the memory, though I know that Corsair has a good reputation and I'm sure it will be fine.

Corsair is definitely a reputable manufactuere. However, the RAM is a waste as I said above.
