I know that in P4-based systems, RIMMs are run in a dual-channel configuration, and thus must be installed in pairs.
My friend has a P3 933/133 with the i820 and RDRAM, though (Gigabyte GA-6CX I believe), and we want to install some
extra memory. Right now, one slot has a 128MB RIMM in it, and the other has the terminator card.
I don't think the i820 runs RDRAM dual channel, so I should be able to just pop in a 512 MB RIMM, right? Especially since he has a 128 MB RIMM and a terminator card only right now...
Also the BIOS lists the memory clock speed as about 350 MHz - this is PC600 RDRAM, right? So I can probably save a bit o' cash by getting the new stuff of the same rating...
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jake
P.S. I know that the i820 sucks, but I don't think it's worth replacing the mobo...
