Another school shooting in TX

Supposedly 9 dead now. One suspect in custody, another one detained. This is insane.

This is near where I live. Different school district however. Our school sent out a note about it earlier this morning.

I'm actually a little surprised since this took place just southeast of Houston, even though I don't live anywhere near Galveston. Either way, it's not like guns are hard to get ahold of here in Texas.

Exactly. Same as in Vegas. He could have mowed down 600+ people just as easily from that window 32 floors up and over 1,000 feet away with a knife.

i've decided to stop worrying about these things. there's nothing i can do and there's nothing anything the US population or government is ever going to approve to even attempt to solve it.

and statistically they're very small - 8 people is 0.00000246% of the US population. it's basically the same result as a few fatal car crashes, and those don't get covered nationally and people don't worry about them.

so why worry about this? i've got a way higher chance of getting killed in a car crash than a school shooting.

Sounds like the resource officer was killed.

Edit. Just found another article where the sheriff noted a resource officer was injured condition unknown.

Edit 2. Apparently the school usually has more than one armed resource officer on site...
