I got the 3500A, they had some other low priced optional CD/DVD ROM as well. To tell you the truth, I have no interest in burning DVD's but it's nice to have the option not to mention back up capabilities and it was only a few more bucks. Of course, I don't get the world famous Alienware support team, the free T shirt, and the cool case they have, but what the hell.

AddictPC.com offers a 2 year parts and labor warranty as well and life time customer support. Check 'em out for yourself. http://www.addictpc.com

Sincerely,
Hans

$1816. out the door. They ship UPS Ground for free and no sales tax since they're in Vancouver,WA and I'm in CA. I feel a lot better about this deal than Alienware. I think this will be a good gaming rig. I don't want to get involved with PCI Express and SLI until they get through the teething stage and sort out whatever problems are sure to come up. I read the reviews here on the 3500+ CPU that it came within 10% of the performance of the FX-53 except for memory bandwidth. I heard you can't beat it for the money and for gaming. I should have it on my doorstep by next Friday.

Sincerely,
Hans
Nice rig, probably couldnt have built it yourself for much less, good move going with a builder

Actually Snoop, your reply about Alienware's rating started me really thinking even though I knew about it. Then the delay really got me second guessing my decision. In the end, I think I ended up making the best decision. Thanks for initiating that spark in me.

Sincerely,
Hans

Yeah, I priced at at around $1300-$1500. depending on what level of quality I wanted and that was without the DVD burner. That's when I started thinking about how much more it would cost to buy it already made. Pyramid Systems also has systems in that price range. I priced other places but kept coming back to AddictPC. They actually talked me out getting the 10000rpm HD because he didn't think I needed it and because he felt they weren't worth the price for just slightly better performance.

I can appreciate someone wanting to build their own and I wanted to also, but spending a couple of hundred extra and getting a ready to go PC is worth it to me. I know I would have run into problems and probably would have ended up having to have someone fix it for me anyway.

Sincerely,
Hans

Good luck getting any kind of support when that thing takes a dump.

One of the reasons people build their own computers is to learn the system inside out and to be able to troubleshoot instead of winding up with an expensive paperweight which yours will eventually become.

that will be a nice pc, i just upgraded my pc with a bunch of new a64 stuff like you have, but see, i am extremely experienced wit the entire pc building a tech support process as thats what i do at my job. yet i still am having stupid ass problems with the pc i just put together. i have replaced every component in the damn pc now with new/ different pieces and it still won't work.... it looks like the mobo is bad, which this new msi mobo has known to have some issues. yet, with you having it prebuilt they will test it for you to ensure that it works properly before sending it out, so if they have any problems they will be forced to replace any bad components before selling it to you.

Juicy Lucy,

Real original name, not exactly flattering or something to brag about. That's kinda rude, don't you think? I'm pretty good at troubleshooting should that happen, thank you very much. These are all off the shelf parts. Besides that, the PC has a two year parts and labor warranty and lifetime customer support. With your cheery optimism, you wouldn't happen to be a suicide hotline counselor, would you? I hope not....

Sincerely,
Hans

Excellent system. Make sure you get some games with it, or else what would it be good for?
PS: What do you have for a monitor to accompany the 6800 Ultra?

His system is spec'd out very well. If you don't have any specific experence with the vendor, don't rain on his parade. The PC should be very user servicable when that time does come.

Hans,

Thats a very nice computer and should serve you well for quite some time. Enjoy!

It's a Sylvana, spelled correctly? 19 inch CRT monitor. I heard that the flat screen monitors are not that good for gaming, is that true? If so, I may have to get down the road.

Thanks Techwanabe, we have enough rain here in the Southland already. I'm happy with my choice and confident I did OK.
