I know i don't post much but saw this topic http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=38&threadid=1588834&enterthread=y and thought id share.

So far I've lost a total of 50 pounds and still going.

I go to the gym 6 days a week (mon - sat) for anywhere from 45mins to 1hr 45mins.

I eat 1800 calories a day (6 meals that consist of 300 calories each) Each of my meals have 30 grams of protein and 30 grams of carbs.

The funniest thing i found about this is people all around me notice (50 pounds is a ton of weight) and they will say..wow what are you doing? Did you get that new Diet from TV? I just find it funny that most people that comment think there is a miracle pill out there that makes you lose a crap load of weight. Then i tell them what im doing and they are like damn..thats a lot of work...LOL. Well just wanted to share as I really do enjoy reading the boards with you guys .

**UPDATE** I went and weighed myself yesterday and I am down another 10ish pounds putting me at the 60pound lost mark...Very Happy!!!!

**UPDATE** Well i felt it was time to check the scale again and found that I lost another 15 pounds putting me at the 75 pound mark....the weight loss has slowed down but its still coming off which makes me very happy. I also found a way to make a pizza that is under the 300 calorie mark so I've been eating that like crazy

Mainly very lean meats (fish, chicken, filets) and tons of brocoli...or other vegetables but steamed brocoli is really good for the body.

Congrats, and keep at it.

I've lost 10 lbs in the past 2 months (from 165 to 155 lbs). I haven't altered my diet at all, I've just taken to vigorous cycling for at least an hour a day every day. Unfortunately I'm getting to the point where I have to improve my diet to see any additional improvement

It's just so hard to come up with a meal plan when you're as ignorant as I am on the subject.

Congrats. I've started getting back into the routine recently (this past Sunday) and have been working out every other day. Too soon for any weight loss, but today it seems like I just have more energy then normal. Next step is to get a decent food plan going. That's not to say I'm pigging out on Twinkies and HoHo's by any means. I've set myself a goal of not eating after 7 so food doesn't sit on my stomach as I'm going to bed. Well see how it goes!

People are always going to jump to the "What fast and easy way did you do it?" question first. Hard work and persistence is the key....keep it up!

that's great Syrch.

how do you have time to make 6 meals though? i mean, 6 meals a day would give me a lot of distractions from my work.

Congrats. That's really great. But don't take it too far. 1800 calories isn't that low, but for the exercise you are doing it might be. When the fat is gone, eat some more!

I had a friend who did a similar thing. Got stuck in this rigorous exercise diet schedule and basically wasted away by sticking to it for too long. He is better now but I don't think fully recovered.

for someone who lost 50lbs in 3 months, i would guess he weighed around 250 at first or maybe even more. at that weight, im SURE his diet was probably double his 1800 calories/day.

an 1800 cal/day diet is GREAT for someone his size trying to lose weight. hell, even if he wasn't even exercising, 1800 is good. with his exercise that is extremely low.

Alright lets see if i answer all questions

No my carb intake a day is 180ish 30 for each meal x6 meals.
In order to get 6 meals i will eat health shakes and bars. For example for breakfast I'll have a cup of egg whites on a wheat wrap with some sort of seasoning. Then at around 9-10am i will have a 300 calorie health shake/bar. At lunch I'll have a chicken ceasar with no crutons or cheese with the dressing on the side (then i apply as little as possible). Then at around 3:30 - 4pm I will eat another health shake/bar. At around 5-5:30 I will go to the gym until about 7:30 (depending if i have my trainer or not). I will get home and have grilled chicken and brocoli (4oz chicken breast and 12 cups of brocoli = 300 calories with 30grams of protein and 30 grams of carbs). Lastly at about 9 or 10 pm i will have dessert health shake.

Nay I won't take it to far i still "cheat" on sundays so that my body does not catch up to my diet.

My diet prior to this was fast food, something quick more fast food then dinner. It was horrible. I went to a trainer and nutrionist who got me on the right track and now i am 50 pounds lighter. Still going strong too

Where i work they blocked the site but they are at www.eas.com. I will have the original shakes and the lite cookies and cream bars (they are best tasting).

Right on man! I'm glad to hear someone do a conventional diet and get good results.

It sounds like you're doing it the "right" way too...the healthy way.

Keep it up!!!

Ex-fattie checking in here as well. From 6'0", 250 lbs. down to 185 lbs.

I'm so glad to hear you doing it the "right way" as well. I worked hard to lose the weight, as did you. Quick fixes and pills are not the answer.

Keep up the good work.

I need to get me back on this kind of stuff. I lost about 40lbs a year a go when I took a weight training class (spent most of it on the exersise bike, until some punk broke it) and I've kept it off since. I'd like to hit 180 by the time I start college in the fall, I've been sitting at 220-225 since my class. It's great looking on me at 5 foot 7

Grats to the OP, keep it up.

12 cups of broc for dinner? damn.. that's a lot congrats man. I really need to improve on my diet. I eat out too much... and it's just too costly. Altho, eating healthy isn't helping me too much in that dept. either.. heh.

congrats! don't forget, after a while it isn't a "diet", it's just how you eat. don't lapse back into your old ways!
