This is about the OP's choice and it counts for him to wait. Its not about AMD or Nvidia.

Your so busy trying to bash a AMD card down someones throat, you forgot that we are trying to help someone.

What are you talking about? I recommend Nvidia cards in almost all of my threads. It is my opinion in this case that the 6950 is a better buy as you wont notice any difference going from a STOCK 6950 to a STOCK 570 at 1920x1080 and if you can you deserve a cookie and milk.

Doesnt matter now but here is an older 1080p review http://www.hardwareheaven.com/revie...n-6950-graphics-card-review-introduction.html Look at the most important stat minimum frames. They are not even the 6970 only wins 1 game and another by 1 fps.

Oh yeah thats right we have to exclude certain games because AMD can't match Nvidia's performance in them.

Nobody said anything about exuding a game. Its just useless to claim one card is faster then the other in that way. It all depends on the games you play. Just like including dragon age 2 would massively swing to the AMD side, and nvidia cards aren't even playable in that game.

As for minimums, if there isn't a graph, their useless. Minimums are even affected by how many times the benchmark was run. Without a graph, its useless using them as a metric for performance.

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...9-nvidia-geforce-gtx-560-ti-1gb-review-8.html

I can cherry pick too. Crank up the AA and the 6970 pulls away, don't even mention higher resolution.

Ok and use 4x af, AMD cards crash with it on.

"HardOCP even noted that HD6990 tanked with anything above 4xAF irrc. Therefore, it seems this game is either very demanding or the drivers are unoptimized for both camps at this point."

http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=31357607&postcount=23

Come on man!! Thats a brand new game and will be fixed in a week or 2, with new drivers.

260$ for a 6950 or 270$ for gtx570 and you are gonna argue the 6950?

Give me a break!

Your going to use a DEMO as a benchmark? Give me a break.

Theres that out of the box AAA support huh.

1st dragon age, now SHOGUN 2, who knows what game is next.

EDIT: There is a $240 6950 that is in stock, so stop making up prices.

Lol I'm done in this thread too many AMD excuses. If you have the money get the 570 its the faster card at 1080p, has Physx, Cuda, Folding, better tessellation, better control panel, and more consistent performance across a wide variety of games.

Price to performance the AMD 6950 2 GB is the best no doubt about that, funny how those who advocated the GTX 460 just a few months ago are singing a different tune now :hmm:. 3% fail rate is damn near perfect unlocking as anyone will ever get and on top of that there's enough headroom to OC these things a lot. As for power consumption, we all know who wins there so there's no point in mentioning it anyways.

But I will say this that difference between the AMD 6950/GTX 570/AMD 6970 is pretty freakin small and it comes down to which brand you prefer. Pick your color and move on and the OP obviously had his mind made up before starting the thread because the poll is clearly showing which card the majority would pick while OP is picking the other card. Nothing wrong with that at all it's just your preference no one can/should judge you by that. Enjoy the the GTX 570, it's a heck of a card no doubt about that.

Why do you resort to this in every thread, " I am done with this, I am done with that," it's a discussion , if you would rather rant than discuss you can close the thread and move along.

Excluding dragon age 2 that may or may not get a new driver that increases performance of course.

14fps, thats no difference? 57 fps vs 71 fps. Remember thats an average framerate, I'm sure the 6950 drops in to the 40's in that game. Try to play online it will drop further.

Damn YOU happy i hate when my eyes notice the difference between 57 and 71 FPS on a 60hz monitor!!!

you are cherry picking games again too (not that BF:BC2 you would notice a difference)

Edit: you cant guess on the minimums for all you know the minimums are skewed in the 6950's favour.

Even when the gtx570 is 10$ more, you came a little late.

Really guys look at what your saying here, 10$ more for a card that is faster then a 6970 @ 1080p.

I think you are all smarter then this, do you know what this makes you look like?
think about it.

I'm gone also.

You win some, you lose some. Posting random benchmarks does nothing.

At 10$ more by all means he should get the GTX 570 but I was under the impression that the deal sold out.

I love how the price difference between an HD6950 2GB suddenly went from $60 to $10 because the GTX570 in question is now back in stock.....oh wait it isn't!

Yeah in an AMD dominated forum Im sure I wont be. The OP said he isn't worried about saving a few bucks he wants the better card and clearly its the 570 in his case. If he was going for multi-monitor or 2560x1600 I would recomend the 6970 in a second. Damn me for not being bias and recommending a Nvidia card when it fits.

I appreciate your input, but that's not really true. In fact I am still quite torn about the subject lol. But ultimately it looks like the GTX 570 is the higher performing card regardless of price, and regardless of whether or not the 6950 will unlock to a 6970. I just don't wanna have a bad case of buyers remorse knowing I could have full well afforded the better performing card.

The OP said he would wait but for some strange reason some people are still trying to get him to buy a 6950?

Go figure.

More like in a sane forum, if the OP came in here looking for advice with a 6950 2gb and a 6970 I would give the same advice even thought the 6970 is faster. Absolute power is not always the best choice.
