Do they still charge for online play? Dealbreaker.

Both systems now charge for online play but on ps4 you don't need psn plus to use online apps and features like you do for Xbox one.

Actually, in the June update, MS removed the requirement to have Gold to use the media services (Netflix, Skype, YouTube, etc.)

How new is your TV, you won't need a remote for the PS4 if your TV has device link, enable HDMI device link and set the TV to device control and there you have it- I do it with my TV. That's one thing the XB1 doesn't have, it requires an IR to work with the TV remote while the PS4 can just be used through HDMI device control.

Wow, I had no idea my PS4 could do this. I thought all PS4 HDMI CEC did was turn the tv on and off...lmao. Looked this up and got it working in about 30 seconds. Thanks! This won't do anything for my cable box though, which my XB1 does well. Kinect required, but it does do a little more than PS4.

Phil Spencer deiced to be a good boy for once and allow Netflix without XBL gold not long ago.

The Upload service still requires gold, why can't we upload to Youtube yet? My favorite feature of the PS4 is uploading my vids to Youtube now (used to copy the vids to USB stick and upload on laptop after).

Yea that was a bad decision. But at least now I can use Netflix on either console. I like that the Xbox can stream everything my ps4 can't.

I play games on my PS4, I play Forza Horizon 2 and watch bluray and streams on my XB1, that's how Microsoft wanted to market it on us. I got that little XB1 remote with the rubbery rounded bottom, not a bad remote but I pushed the wrong button a handful of times though.

I use the smart glass on my phone as a remote when I'm watching something. It comes in kind of useful. The ps4 also has an app like this but I'm not sure I ever used it to fast forward or rewind stuff in Netflix.

I'm actually sort of glad that Sony started charging for PSN+. As I understand it, the free PSN wasn't always all that great, and with adding a fee to it Sony was forced to make it better.

It has also forced some competition between PSN+ and XBL, which has made XBL better. Both of them are giving away pretty decent (if not recent) games. In the past XBL gave away Halo Reach, Halo 3, Gears of War, Dead Rising 2, and Hitman Absolution among others on X360.

As the catalogs grow for the X1 and PS4 I'm sure we'll start seeing better games being given away for them too. Sony is planning Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition for Dec and inFamous - Second Son for January. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/11/04/sneak-peek-at-ps4-plus-lineup-for-dec-jan/#sf5590903 I'm hoping that MS follows suit with some AAA launch titles on XBL Gold as well.

Yea I don't mind it as now I have both consoles and both subscriptions. It's nice to get free titles if they are good. Although I never had a problem with free psn either. It always got the job done when I needed to use it.

Since you don't play multiplayer and you want to save money get an Xbox soon because of the price drop and deals all around. I have both systems and I like them for their own reasons and exclusive titles.

I think you would enjoy the last of us. See if there are any black Friday deals for a ps4. The ps4 version of last of us also has the dlc addition. Aside from exclusives both consoles are decent. It's up to you but if you want best bang for the buck Xbox right now will do that.

But on the other hand, I have had my Xbox Live account for over 9 years...I kinda hate to give that up. And I have over 50 360 games.

I am waiting until the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals to make my decision.

Well Wal-Mart has a ps4 bundle for black Friday with the last of us and gta v for $399. Or for $479 you can get the system, those two games and 2 additional games.

There are also Xbox one bundles. I traded in my ps3 at best buy with a controller and after gift cards and reward certificates I paid $187 for a Xbox one unity bundle. So now I have a ps4 and an Xbox one and now I have the dilemma of what system to get new games on. I've got 9 ps4 games and 4 Xbox one titles.

But I mainly got the Xbox for exclusives.

Gta v and the last of us alone is worth a ps4 in my opinion. I played last of us on ps3 and playing it again on ps4 now along with the dlc. Enjoying it like I did the first time.

Do you know if the Black Friday deals are online? I am not, repeat not going to fight the crowds, I would rather play full retail. BTW, right now I am playing Squads mode on COD ghosts and having a wonderful time!! Does AW have modes to play against bots??

I think the black Friday ps4 deal is in store only. But this one is $474 comes with an extra controller, and a game of your choice and can be ordered online. Last of us is a game choice too.

As for cod aw, I have it on the one and didn't get to play mp since it was installing forever but I'm not sure why it wouldn't have bots, it does have co op from what I could tell in the menu.

The processor architecture between the two consoles is not the same. IT would have been a serious amount of additional work to get the console backwards-compatible (though they did it from the Xbox to the 360, the library differences are much greater).

I would look for a long-term streaming solution to bring backwards compatibility of sorts, like Sony is doing with PSNow. Here's hoping Microsoft doesn't follow Sony without changing the egregious pricing of PSNow, though.

Just checked cod aw, multiplayer does let you play with bots. Took forever to install multiplayer though. I only was able to get to level 4 lol.

Dunno about that, haven't seen that stated anywhere other than MS using "shipped" instead of "sold". PS4's are still flying off the shelves where I live (Canada) and they're definitely still selling fast in EU. Sure the XB1's reduced prices has picked up the sales pace but PS4's pace hasn't really slowed down yet.

Consoles being sold does matter if there is a large swing toward one being very dominate. People looking to buy a system would like to factor in the one that has a larger player base for many reasons such as a larger multiplayer pool and lead system being designed for. I don't see anyone here being fanatical about it, everyone's pretty cool...

I'm somewhat considering getting an Xbox One. I'd like to play the Forza games, but will probably wait for a few more games to drop on it before getting it. I'd like to wait for a redesign as I don't care for how large it is right now.

I have a half dozen or so micro USB cables but they are all 3-4 ft. I need one 6 ft if the PS4 one is not that length.

it doesn't matter one bit in this case. it's not like one is selling super poorly and one is dominating. both consoles are breaking sales numbers of previous console generations, they are both going to be just fine.

i would get a ps4 - ps5- ps6 etc ...if it came with some sort of advanced wii like controller (not that silly move, sorry) cant stand playing with any kind of retro gamepad...
