Anyone have any experience with the Antec Earthwatts EA650? I can't find any reviews on it except at newegg. It is priced pretty decent at 69.00 with free shipping, so I'm tempted to get it unless someone has a better suggestion for that price range. Needs to power a Q6600 @ 3.0 with a 9600GT, HDTV card and 3 hard drives.

This thread is so far off topic I am not going to attempt to reel this one in.

THIS 600W is a better PSU than the Antec EA650 and still cheaper for $59.99 after $25 MIR.

EA650 is made by Delta, and it is still a bit of an unknown at this point. I can only assume it is a hit or miss. My question is just how much are you willing to spend?

I am honestly sick of replying to you, $69.99 is the price of the PSU, not the maximum he is willing to pay. For all I know he is willing to spend up to $80, but he sees this PSU which is from a known company, marketed for one of their decent PSU lines, and has all the wattage he needs; so he figures what the hell, why spend more if I don't have to. Although he does say "for that price range" is he talking <$70, <$100, between $50 and $75, is their something wrong with asking for a clarification? Also Maybe he doesn't want to deal with MIR's either...

I'll be blunt now, if there is anything you would like to say to me and not thread crap; feel free to PM me and we can discuss it there.

Ah..!!! You can't find a better PSU at a better price.

It's probably obsolete and hardly anyone ever said what they meant anymore, but there's a faint possibility that the OP was looking for a better PSU at a better price.

I had very little use for PM.

Just to point out while there hasn't been a review of the D version of the Earthwatt series so there are some questions Delta isn't an unknown at all. From a review of low end PSUs from Jonnyguru.com:
Delta is, in fact, a well known name in the industrial game; where they enjoy a reputation for solid and well designed power supplies. Customers of theirs include a number of big name PC builders, including Dell.

I'm not locked into a certain price. This just seemed like a good deal and it avoids the hated MIR game. Plus it is free shipping which can be substantial nowadays. Just want to make sure I wasn't making a "big mistake". But I've had a lot of Antec PS in the past and only ever had 1 fail- and that was on a DVR that ran 24/7 for 5 years! I like corsair as well, but they are more like 100.00 for the 650W. So I think I will give this one a try.

That is a group regulated Epsilon. I thought you didn't like group regulated units?

And what exactly do you know about the Delta based EA650 that would make it worse than an Epsilon?

Close... $95 with free shipping before rebate

Just an FYI... the EarthWatts 650W puts out 45A on the +12v. The Corsair TX650 puts out 52A on the +12v. The extra you pay goes to a good cause.

Yep, the Corsairs are really nice PS. Newegg upped the price before I bought it, so now, the Corsair is cheaper after the rebate. Newegg is always playing stupid price games like that. I hate rebates...

That is the label. And according to the label the unit is capable of more than 550w on the 12v rails alone. So how did you get 550w for that 3Y platform?

According to that data set it says it can do 560w across the 12v and the rest across the remaining voltages..

How does it make it a 550w unit? Where are you pulling this number from?

Umm...no no its not a 550 according to "that data set". 50A*12v=600w. So according to "that data set" it is at least a 600w unit.

Learn to read label, that way you won't need to test and generate useless dataset. Like these Idiotic crossload test...

"I have seen reviews that crossload these independently regulated PSUs with a single transformer for the 12V and a single transformer for the 3.33V and 5V and most of them are rock solid in voltage regulation (less than 2% variation on any rail with either a heavy 3.33V and 5V load and light 12V load and with a heavy 12V load and light 3.33v and light 5v load) and ripple suppression."

Fix you quote I said.

Which is what the label says. So maybe you need to reread the label and redo your math.

Ha ha... I do OK, my reading label and my math won't let me buy "720W" unit. When I need "720" I just buy a 550.
