Had to run to Staples to get a new PSU, planed on spending the $99.99 shelf sticker price (was in a hurry) but it rang out at $49.99.

Probably a price mistake but who knows.

Newegg price is 69.99.

Great find Op. Thanks. Excellant power supply at a great price. I have found awesome Staples coupons available for a small fee that are delivered instantly, by utilizing my favorite search engine. I can always find a $25 off $75, and I believe I just saw a $20 off $50. Making this deal even hotter. You usually have a choice of in-store printable, online coupon code, or also phone order. We can't link to the actual site here, though;correct?

These, at least at the store I work at, went on clearance. They are $48.40 here.
Sold the last one today. Practically had to bet the guy to take it too.

Nice deal. Grabbed a 20 off 50 coupon then got one at our nearest Staples for $48.40 minus the $20 coupon = $28.40. Sweet! I did have buy another small item to get the total to over $50 but that was no biggie.

Buyer beware on these.

The Seasonic version of this power supply was excellent. All of the ones you'd find at retail today are 500D models from Delta, which have not been thoroughly reviewed by anyone. Cursory teardowns have shown the components to be lower quality than the older EA500s though.

This sounds like my initial impression from 2 years ago. I own all Seasonic Earthwatts, but from what I've read (like at Jonnyguru), the Delta Earthwatts are actually a cut above.

The Delta Earthwatts 650 is very good. The 750 seems to have some weirdness going on 12V rails in terms of ripple.

Jeez, quit the bullshit. There's nothing to "beware" of at all.

They've been quite tested thoroughly tested unless you don't trust the testing at JonnyGuru, HardOCP or Hardware Secrets.

And if they were so terrible, why would Oklahoma Wolf, the main tester at JonnyGuru, say about the Delta-built EA power supplies:

In nearly every way I can think of, this new Delta platform is a worthy and improved successor to the older Earthwatts designs. It's better designed, regulates better, and is more efficient in general than the EA500 we last tested in January of 2007.

It's not bullshit.

Please refer to this thread where they discuss the differences: http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4067

The EA650 whose review you quoted is a fantastic product and should be considered by anyone considering a non-modular PSU of that capacity. The EA500 tested in Sept. 2007 was an original Seasonic built unit. Please do not put the EA500D in the same category as the EA650...they are built on completely different platforms.

None of the major review sites have tested an EA500D because Antec gains nothing by sending them units for review. The original EA500 was a gem, and they want you to believe the EA500D is also. Honestly, I'm sure the EA500D is a functional unit, it just isn't exceptional like the TruePower New or EA650. I personally would rather hunt and peck for sales on Corsair's VX450 or Seasonic's SS500-ET. The Antec Neo ECO 520W is also an option at ~$60.

So in other words you have no idea if the 500D is any better or any worse then the 500?

@bjamm2,

a sizeable majority of forum users don't have access to a Fry's. Can you line up a deal like this online?

@Lipservice, do you have any advice on which "coupon" sites are reputable? I find it a bit unusual to have to "pay money to save money," I only trust my Nigerian prince with finances

Yes. "Fry's.com".
Antec EarthWatts 650W $59.99.
http://www.frys.com/product/5503410 .

Microcenter.com is $75.44 for the 650Watt.

At first, I too was a bit put off at paying for a coupon, never had to before. Then reason swallowed my pride. Trade $1.99 for $25 in savings. Not rocket science. INSTANT DELIVERY after paypal payment to an e-mail address of your choice. I also save @ Lowe's and Home Depot this way. Suppose visiting "E" sites on the internet could turn you into a "junkie" for the ".com" s.

I went to Staples and picked this up. My "$20 off $50 purchase" worked even though I didn't buy $50 worth!

The label in my case said the PSU was on sale for $75, but it rang up as $49.84 after taxes. Total price paid: $29.84. Very good deal to power my incoming HD5850.

It is hard to justify paying x2+ more for 150W, but maybe I'm just cheap.
