Antec P180 problem

I've had my P180 for a couple weeks now, and I've really liked it. Except I'm having one problem. Whenever I plug a device into the front USB after the system has been on for a while, it crashes. And then when I reach to unplug the device, I get a little shock (like static) from the USB port. Reboot, plug in USB, everything's fine.

Any idea what the problem is? It's kind of annoying.

did you properly ground your computer? (via PSU and directed to the power outlet) Assuming that everything works fine, you probably just dont have proper grouding for your system.

Yes, the PSU is grounded via 3 prong connection to the surge (assuming that's what you're talking about).

unless it's possible I have a bad power cable, but it's brand new and came with my NeoHE that I got when I got the case.

I had a similar problem. It turned out that I had to unplug the AC power adapter for my USB hubs and let them be powered from the USB ports on the motherboard only. That solved the problem for me.

It seemed was getting voltage feedback.

I'm not running any hubs. Is there an additional power connector for the front ports on the case that I don't know about?

well, they work just fine (other than this random, occasional static thing). so I would assume yes.

Computer is on a raised shelf (wood) about 6-8" above carpet, but does not contact the carpet at all. I have no pets.

it's an apartment, and it's only like 5 years old (it's a very new building, I've been here 3 of the 5 years).

Strange, I would just recheck all of the connections. You have a metal PSU, not one of those painted ones right?

If anyone else is having this problem, I think I've found the fix.

Take off your front panel. You'll see a bunch of exposed leads on the back of both the power and reset switches. Cover them (I used hot glue). Seems to fix the problem. I think the switch was tripping against the metal in the case.
